I just completed my online enroll application for Excelsior, so of course, I was feeling very curious and started looking at the required learning materials to use for Health Differences. Boy I felt really intimidated! What is everyone else using to study for this test? Please any and all recommendations appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm taking this exam in a couple hours. The information is pretty basic and requires critical thinking mostly. I would say I studied about 2 wks altogether. I used the Saunders NCLEX comprehensive review, Test Success, Fundamental Success; these books are very good in testing the material and teaching testing skills/techniques and critcal thinking. I briefly looked at SG101 but the notes were a mess. and I found a lot of misinformation so I scrapped those notes. Stick with your text or the books mentioned here. This exam content is a lot easier than the others! Good Luck!
determined2b, let us know how you do, good luck
Determine2b, please let us know here how you did on the test. I am freaking out, I don't want to waste time or fail any tests! I purchased the Saunders NCLEX Comprehensive Review, but When I went on the Excelsior website and downloaded the content guide there were so many recommended books and so much recommended information that I got so overwhelmed I just shut down my computer! I think it is gonna give me a panic attack! LOL Please, please help me figure this out.
I don't know if my original info. when I started this thread is accurate - I am trying to prepare for Essentials in Healthcare: Health Differences.

OK. take a deep breath and relax.....it SEEMS like a lot of information. FIRST purchase the exam so you can purchase the PRACTICE exam. SECOND take Part I of the practice exam to see what knowledge you already have! THIRD study the parts you are weak in and just skim the parts you are strong in. FOURTH take Part II of the practice exam. FIFTH schedule your actual exam, get a passing grade and come back and be proud of your accomplishment. The practice exams are instrumental in keeping you from spinning your wheels. Why study for something you already know? If you follow this formula you may find yourself only studying a week or two for an exam and get through this much quicker with LESS stress. Good Luck!
Yes that's all I used to study. If I remember right, I studied for about 2 weeks. U
I passed with a B!
One more thing....the recommended textbooks are exactly that....recommended. If you look at each section of the exam it will tell you what books you should NEED. And one more for the record....I've used SG101, Saunders NCLEX review, and some of the "required" textbooks reading(not much) and I took the practice exams. I took six of the exams in seven weeks and got three As and three Bs. Everyone is different but this worked for me.
