Hi.I've been looking for affordable online chem class in order to take organic chem. I got c on chem in the nursing school so I like to retake it before I take oranic chem. That was more than 6 years ago. I can't remember any of chem. I finally found iowa community college online consortium.
They have college chem(151,152) and general chem(166,176). I was going to take general chem becuase general chem is higher level that college chem but they only offer gen chem 1 via online. I don't want to finish half of a book here and half book there.
Can I take college chem in order to get a good grade on organic chem? Or taking general chem is better?
Do you know any affordable online chem. New Englnd and OSU are so expensive.

Organic Chem is hard. I would take the higher level General Chem so you have a better knowledge base for your O Chem classes. Do you need Gen Chem I & II to take Organic? I only needed Gen Chem I as my pre-requisite. I guess maybe it depends on the school. I would take the option you found if it is that much cheaper- better to spend an extra $60 renting another book for Gen Chem II than to spend $1500 on 1 class (I think that is UNE's going rate)!

Try this: make sure your school accepts it before you sign up for it. Some do and others don't. (This is for basic 101 course though).

Can you take chem online? Don't you need labs for it to count?

Try UC Berkley extension. It's all online. They have gen chem, organic, physics. About $770/class. Have to purchase book. Final exam is proctored.

I took the online course through University of New England and it was brutal- I barely made it through Ochem I. The Ochem II wasn't bad; diffferent instructor, more relevent to our field. I wouldn't recommend it iunless you need both, because the Ochem I is taught (I use that term loosely...) way over your head unless you are a chem genius. Good luck!
Oh, and there is a lab component- it was easy.

Ocean College in New Jersey. Take Gen Chem online and then the Org/Biochem at Iowa Central.
