it may be just the way our school taught them to us..i loved interpreting ekg's i also got the book rapid interpretation of ekg's by dubin...i highly recommend that..plus our instructor made us sit down for a whole day at clinical and tear off ekg strips..interpret them and give them to her for a grade....i basically think it was how you are taught..we used a book in school by brady on interpreting ekg's and that book was awesome...

focusing on the basics (PQRSTs) is what really helps, like someone suggested earlier, repetition is great too, you just don't get the ECG unless you practice reading them a whole lot, and hey, they actually become quite fun. Just remember, some kind of arhythmia will almost always show, learn to differentiate those and the false readings (forgot how they're called for a moment). Note that PVCs and nodal rhythms can be a tad tricky but non the less easy to spot with practice.
(Does this really help? I dont even know, but I'll post it anyway) :)

Would it be possible for you to go sit with someone at the EKG (Telemetry) monitors at a hospital close to you? I worked at the monitors for the last three years and we were always willing to have students come sit with us. (preferably on a slower day) Repetition really is the key to learning it.

Thanks so much everyone. I have a cardio final next week and the Larson site is really good! I have spent quite a bit of the morning reviewing it. Thanks for the tips. Wish me luck!
