  1. I took the NCLEX-RN for the second time yesterday. Both times I had 265 ?'s. The 2nd time, I took the break I was offered, took my time and really read the ?'s and answers more thoroughly. I found out today I passed, with a HUGE sigh of relief. I firmly believe in using the CD ROMS. I used Kaplan and Saunders. I also got a book from Barnes and Noble about Prioritzing, Delegation and Assignments and I think that one helped too! Good luck to everyone!
  2. To those Nurses who moved to Fl and needed to apply for a license b/c yours was from out of state, how hard was it. I am wondering how soon in advance I should apply, or if I can even apply before I move Thanks! Jami
  3. Just curious, for those who work @ SMH (which I believe is Sarasota Memorial), what is the pay like for new grads? I am most likely moving down the end of this year to be with my mother and grandmother (coming from Delaware). I am very familiar with Englewood, Port Charlotte, Venice, Sarasota, etc, but I know nothing about the hospitals. I was trying to compare SMH to Fawcett and the other hospital in Port Charlotte (I think it's St. Joe's????) Any advice would be great. Up here ratios during days are 5-6:1 and night is 10-12:1, depending where you work. I have heard the PCT down there can do way more than ours up here can. ANY ADVICE AT ALL would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Jami
  4. Jill, unfortunately I recent failed with 265 ?'s. I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about the NCBSN review....how much was it, is like the saunders cd, etc? You can send me a private message. Thanks! Jami
  5. We have decided to use Raven Simone's "This is my time" because we feel it really expresses what an accomplishment we have made. This Is My Time oh, at times I felt like I had lost my self cuz people try to make you someone else I had to learn to trust my heart so things can change I came to a point where I can speak my mind and not feel I'm living in a box to keep the girl I am concealed oh I finally found the strength so I can leave that all behind chorus: this is my time, to shine this is my place to find all that I have inside I never knew this is my time to show what I must have always known that nothings impossible and dreams come true everybody's got the strength inside all it takes is time to realize that you and only you can be the one to decide I can, I will, I know that everything I want I can do believing in my self then every wish I make will come true oh, it took a while to get this far but I'm here now chorus: this is my time, to shine this is my place to find all that I have inside I never knew this is my time to show what I must have always known that nothings impossible and dreams come true overcoming all these things here I finally found my wings now I know I'm ready to fly............ chorus: this is my time, to shine this is my place to find all that I have inside I never knew this is my time to show what I must have always known that nothings impossible and dreams come true
  6. In Delaware, Christiana Care has a Critical Care Internship that last 6 months. I believe you can choose which 2 area you would like to rotate through. More information can be found on their website. Christianacare.com I believe that is correct Jami
  7. I have never in my life hated something so much! I never want to do that again! I hated the thought of being videorecorded. I hate that little clock in the upper right hand of the screen telling me how long I had left! I had a good cry afterwards for about 1 hr. I have to wait until monday, adn hopefully will have my results. I had 130 which REALLY scares me and that's why I have been crying. Everyone in my class who has taken it, had 85 questions, and passed. I am SCAREDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
  8. Personally, When I took psyc last semester, I felt that it is a totally different way of thinking. Thinking outside of the box I think is what they kept telling us. Don't think about fixing them like you would with a med surg or surgical patient. it is a little bit more complicated than those patients. Hope thats a little bit of an insight.
  9. This appeared in our newspaper the other day. I am currently in my 3rd semester of clinicals and waited a good year to get into the program itself. Here in DE, it is now rumored that is taking anywhere from 1-2 1/2 yrs to get in (that's second hand info) http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/local/2005/02/18nursingstudents.html
  10. I spoke with my Aunt who works at the American Diabetes Association. She stated that if you contact them, they may be able to lead you in the right direction of finding a place to help get your hours. They might be able to hook you up with a Dr. or an organization to help get your hours. Their website is: www.diabetes.org Good Luck! Jami
  11. I felt compelled to answer to this post. I think that although some inmates are bad people and have done horrible things, others made a mistake and inmates are people too and need to be cared for. I say this b/c my boyfriend is currently incarcerated for a DUI accident. Maybe, that's why I was a tad bit shocked to read this post. Just my 2 cents Jami
  12. Takes me one hour to get to school. Depends on what clinical site we are experiencing at that time. Right now the psych rotation is 15 mins from my house, however L & D is 2 hrs away!
  13. Don't quote me, but I think I remember hearing that if Lasix is IV push it can cause temporary hearing loss if it is pushed too fast. I am not sure why that is sticking in my head. And once again......... POTASSIUM!!!!!! thanks! jami
  14. A.I. dupont (nemours) is a great place. my sister's neighbor has worked there for years and loves it!
