i dry swallowed 2 pills on friday like i always do when taking pills and have never had a problem. Well it apparently got stuck somewhere like my esophagus and it hurts really bad to swallow...i have a Dr. appointment at 3:15 and i was wondering what all might happen b/c I have a really bad gag reflex....so, what might happen?

Nothing. They probably dissolved there and you're feeling the irritation. Did you try some Maalox?

yes....it did nothing

The doc is probably going to try and see down your throat to see if there is anything obvious going on. Can't tell ya anything else.

Dry swallowing pills is a very bad habit. Some can get stuck in your throat, either causing choking or breakdown of the tissues. They are coated with so many different things these days. I know a girl who used to dry swallow her antibiotics that were capsules with little beads inside. They would lodge in ther throat, the capusule would break down, and the beads would be exposed to her delicate throat tissue. She had damage for a long time.

Dry swallowing pills in general, is a bad idea, as you now know. Please go to the ED if you have complications before your appointment. Good luck.

so i went to the doctor she said its either lodged (im almost positive its not) or its erroded a part of my esophagus....i either need an upper gi or a tube with a light put down my throat...which do you think is worse? will the erosion heal if i leave it alone like will i be good to go by thursday afternoon? is the somethings i cant eat or would help it heal faster if i didnt eat something say soda.....so will it heal on its own or should i get this checked?
