Hi there. Not a nurse yet, but I start the LPN program in Detroit Lakes at the end of the month. YAY!!! :w00t: I'm still new to North Dakota...my family moved here from Wyoming so I could go to school. We're not quite sure which place we like better yet...we'll see once I'm done with school. :) Lord Bless...
Congratulations schoolgirl2006, I wish you the best of luck with school and you will love being a nurse. Welcome to North Dakota it is a fine state and I think you will like it over time. Thanks for replying!!!

Hello out there, glad to see other nurses in the area.. Or soon to be nurses that is :w00t: . I am in a major delima at the moment, our DON at the NH that I am currently at is resigning, well she encourages me to apply for the position. any opinions????
Hi there. That sounds like it could be a really great job advancement...go for it! With the things I've seen at the nursing home I work at, you've gotta like dealing with the same people you would normally if working on the floor (staff, family members, doctors, therapists, etc.), but I think there's also a lot of other stressors that you wouldn't normally encounter as a staff nurse. I think you have to be able to take a lot more complaints and grumbling...with a smile...no matter how irritated or short of time you are. If you're looking for 'normal' hours, without the huge paycuts you'd find working in a doctors office, this would be a good route to take!! I think with enough experience, I'd apply for that type of position. Lots of room for advancement in most nursing homes. The home I worked at in Wyoming...one of the staff nurses became the ADON, then DON, and now she's actually the Administrator!!! I say go for it. If it's something you really think you'd enjoy, it sounds like a positive change. It can't hurt to put in an application. Good luck!!! Lord Bless...
Thanks for the encouragement, I think that I will put in an ap...there's no harm in that. My husband is all for it too. I guess if I get it great if not I still have my job right? I have spent the night praying and thinking about the decision at hand. I think i have decided to go for it, no pain no gain right?:pumpiron: Thanks for your input

I know this is kind of an old post but I graduated from the Williston State College Practical Nursing Program (the first class to go through), back in July of 2005. Mt husband is in the AF and we were stationed at Minot AFB. I attended the LPN program at St Joes/Trinity over the IVAN network and had clinicals in the hospital with a group of 11 other gals. About two weeks after graduation my husband got a new assignment to Fort Belvoir, Virginia. I MISS NORTH DAKOTA! It is a great place. We were stationed there twice- from 91-96 and 98-2005. I think we may come back for a third time in another two years. I hope so. I would like to get my RN there at my old college vs. here in Virginia. Just wanted to say hey! I saw North Dakota on your name heading and got a little "homesick"! Take Care! :monkeydance:
Wow, I miss North Dakota is not something you here often :) I am sure about now most of us wish we were in Virginia with you. It is cold, windy and snowed here most the day. Needless to say we are all quite put out with the weather:penguin: . Anyways I saw you post and wanted to reply. Hope you are having a good week

Hello! I am a nurse who woked lived and worked in ND from 1971 to 1989 and then moved south to Colorado and ended up in Arizona working full-time as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist in Phoenix, AZ area. I check this link every so often to see what is being discussed in ND from a nursing perspective. I am grateful for the nursing education and work experience I had in ND as it continues to serve me well in my CNS position. Thank you.

Hey there!!
I am an LPN who is going to be taking the RN boards soon. I just finished an ADN program in Devils Lake. In fact we just had our pinning tonight and graduation tomorrow.
I am so excited to be finished and someday I think that I will work on my BSN.. I just need a break for awhile.
