Hey there!! I am an LPN who is going to be taking the RN boards soon. I just finished an ADN program in Devils Lake. In fact we just had our pinning tonight and graduation tomorrow. I am so excited to be finished and someday I think that I will work on my BSN.. I just need a break for awhile. Susan

We do the ATI tests here too but all we have to do is get aboved the 5oth percentile. If we don't we take it over but it doesn't make or break the class that we are taking it for. We also do those right at the college. We don't have to go to a testing center to do them. susan

I had clinicals today and I was bored out of my mind. We each have one patient and a crap load of paperwork for each one. But today my patient went home this morning at 930 so I had nothing to do all day. I spent my day bonding with the other patients all six of them. That's the one thing that sucks here is that this is a small hospital and there aren't always that many patients. susan

we are actually there for 9 hours from the time we get there and have postclinical at the end of the day. those nine hours do not include our break times. susan

after reading this I just had to reply. Any aide that works like should be reported whether a person feels like they are tattling or not. If you are aware of a situation like that and do nothing about it then you are just as guilty as the person doing this. This is patient abuse and neglect and can get a person in trouble with the law. As a CNA were always told that even if we did not mean to forget to put on an alarm and the patient got hurt it was still neglect and we were responsible for it. Susan

My first experience came about a year ago while I was still working as a CNA. I was a bath aide and my first bath of the day the resident passed away after getting into the shower chair and before even getting the shower. I had to call for help because no one was answering the call light. I think that I cryed for almost forty five minutes before I could go back to work that morning. Now if I have a dying patient I take the extra time to just be in the room and hold their hand and talk to them. It still bothers me when someone dies but I just try to remember all of the things that I did to comfort that patient and make the dying process a little easier. susan

Right now during clinicals we have plenty of time to get a lunch break. I live in rural north dakota and we do our clinicals in a hospital with 30 beds. Right now our ob unit has been closed for almost two weeks. There are times when we get on the floor for clinicals and there are only 6 patients and there are six students plus the staff that work there. There are a lot of times that we are desperately searching for something to do. Susan

My advice to you is to just read your assigned chapters. In the program that I am in we are also lucky enough to have instructors that are willing to hold study groups for us. But I definitely recommend reading a lot. I also have a workbook that goes with my textbook which helps. susan

We have nine hour clinicals and according to policies at the school we are entitled to a ten minute break every hour. What we do is take a fifteen minute break for breakfast and a thirty minute lunch break. We could have another break in the afternoon but choose not to so that we can have post clinical and get out of there a few minutes early. Susan

I gotta say that i don't mind giving injections whether its sc or im. We did get lots of practice in clinicals though. We spent two mornings doing nothing but giving nursing home residents flu vaccines. I also had a clinical in the er one evening and all I did was give IM injections. It seemed that there was one ordered for almost every patient that night. Susan

Hi all Just took my LPN boards in august and passed with 85 questions. I am working in long term care in the facility that is helping me financially with school. Eventually I would love to work in an emergency room. I am also currently enrolled in an ADN program working towards my rn Susan

I have to say that as a student of an ADN program here in North Dakota I am offended by this. I have worked very hard in this program and feel that I have had a great education. Not only that but the class that just graduated a year ahead of me has had a 100% pass rate on the boards. My LPN class has also had a 100% pass rate and we were a class of 1 year LPN's. Susan

It's 76% in the program that I am in . So far we have one that may not be able to progress to the next semester. We did lose some in the LPN program last year. susan
