Hi All,

Does anyone know if a Hello Kitty Blood Pressure cuff and/or a Hello Kitty Back Pack and scrubs allowed at Dallas Nursing Institute (DNI)?

Thanks

omgsh THANKKK YOUUUU. everybody on here was like whatttt?? how ollld are you?? im like..dannng..chilll... some people are just lame. lol. =) good luck in school. when do you start dni?

I've started and I LOVE IT!!! It's alot to take in, but this is like everything I love wrapped into one. It's all my morals and values wrapped into science, technology and hands-on. Are you in school or already a nurse? I need to read your profile. Thanks for sticking up for me, I bet you are or will be a GREAT patient advocate. = )

i havent started nursing school yet. i didnt get into 4 of the 5 schools i applied to. i have one more left. and i can also apply to one more because the deadline hasnt passed. i mean it has..but they are taking late apps. no problem for standing up. i do stand up for what i believe. especially on a particular thread on this website. its so overwhelming i unsubscribed lol. but my friend and i were looking into dni, but we were unsure if that is what we wanted to do. i like how they start new classes every couple of weeks. but as for you bp cuff. who carrreess lol. like i said mine is hot pink with colorful butterflies..doesnt make me less than the 22 years i am. so far what have you done? when will your program end.

i can't believe this thread started such a ruckus (sp?) Hello kitty or not, you don't really need one for your clinicals. It might come in handy at home and in class though if you want to get some practice. The nursing homes (usually) have vital sign rolling stations with cuffs on them. If you're lucky, ha! good luck with that. Stay away from Ashford Hall! scary.

LOL! GNursing, you really have me scared about Ashford Hall! Having my luck it will be my first clinical round!

PrettieLadie, I happen to LOVE DNI. Alot of people have a lot of good things to say about Concorde also, they seem to like that school, but I've experienced both as far as enrollment is concerned. DNI is WAY more organized with the new crew they have there and the FUND of Nursing teacher has literally made me fall in love even more with Nursing. They appear to be very passionate and caring about this. Don't get me wrong. They are still very strict and there are still some pet peeves, but there Fin. Aid. department is also more organized. I appreciate the Orientation we went to and the Director of Fin. Aid. is pretty hilarious so it wasn't so boring to sit through. BEST OF ALL. There NCLEX PN pass rate was last reported as 94%, compared to all the other schools in the DFW Metroplex, only Weatherford and NCTC top them.

That was most important to me.

Both El Centro and Concorde were below 90% for NCLEX PN pass rate.

I sound like a commercial and I'm probably gonna hate them in a few weeks when the going get's tough, but I believe the hype that all nursing schools are a pain and you just gotta pick what types of pain you are willing to deal with.

Another plus is that they are suppose to start an LVN to RN program Aug 2009, so is Concorde though.

Happy Hunting!

I think I want to see if I can get a Star Trek kit. I think it would be fun for me, since Capt. Kirk always kept me comfy growing up. Perhaps, having such a kit (if one exists) could remind me of the good times in my past and yet to come when I'm caught up in study marathons and endless testing.

BTW, DNI said that the Hello Kitty cuff and backpack is fine as long as it is functional. I would still wait for the instructor's approval though. I'm going to talk to mine about the Star Trek stuff. While I have to wear all white during clinicals, it should not be a problem for class.

You asked them Fwrdlaw? LOL! Thanks! I didn't want to feel stupid asking in class, but now I'm pretty comfy with the folks in my class and I don't think they would care one bit. Ummm after all that studying no one is paying attention to your backback or bp cuff that you practice with.. I'm so tired! And I still have a chapter and these workbook pages that I need to do because they help so much before tomorrow.

I love Star Trak also lol.. I just have to keep a sense of humor..our class is pretty good about that.. They do explain about changing your emotions for the patient (or client).

Pfft. I have My Little Ponies that I got out of Happy Meals placed strategically around my office, I have Eeyore on EVERYTHING (including a tattoo on my ankle :) ), and various cartoon character scrub tops, and I only let people THINK that it is for the kiddos (I'm a school nurse)! Truth be told, I think they're purdy! Don't pay attention to the naysayers. Live young, I say. I am a very mature 31 and don't ever ask me to give up my Eeyore collection or I will hurt you!

Hahahhahahaa!! I have quite a bit of a Hello Kitty collection at my desk at work as well (including the happy meal collection). Everyone knows to just leave me alone about it because it's sentimental to me.

I feel better now, THANKS! :)
