Definetely not the Diploma....... if you really don't want to do the BSN right now, go for your ADN at least, because there are many programs that you can go ADN-->MSN in a shorter amount of time. I got my ADN in May, but am still taking courses to get my BSN and MSN at the same time. I did it so I could go ahead and work making good money while I finished school.
Of course if it is your desire to go forward to get a masters degree, go for the BSN. I didn't realize that there are still diploma programs around. To be honest, if I had that option, I would go for the diploma program for the main reason of having a really indepth clinical experience. From what I understand, the diploma RNs have way more clinical hours. An RN is an RN is an RN, no matter which program. It all depends on your personal goals of furthering your education.

Go for your BSN. I went to a diploma school and regret it immensely. Yes I got alot of good clinical experience but now that I am trying to go back for my BSN, no one wants to except my credits which means I have to take all the same exact classes all over again. What a big pain in the toosh. So here I am sitting on the decision that I need to make at this time. Go for the Bachelor's, you won't regret it. Best of luck to you and God Bless!!!
As a diploma nurse myself, I would definitely encourage you to go with the BSN. There will be opportunities open to you with a BSN that you won't have as a diploma nurse. Plus, as previously noted. if you are going on to a masters program, you should start with the BSN. Going back to school for a BSN while working as a nurse can be difficult. Get your BSN up front and then move forward.
Best wishes on your education and your nursing career.
