Helene Fuld Review

Updated:   Published

Hi, currently in a Practical Nursing program and due to graduate in about 2 months. Helene Fuld seems like the most direct LPN-RN program in NYC. From what I've heard it can be hell on earth, or it's amazing. Was just wondering if I can hear from any recent students or those whose opinion of the school may still be relevant today.

Thank you, Lili

I graduated from helene twice 2016 ASN and 2018 BSN. That school is hell on earth but it is do able. Many people fail but some of us make it to graduation.

I graduated from there in 2011 and it was "hell on earth." I feel that most nursing schools are. They are the most direct program in NY for LPN to RN. Like yourself coming from VEEB to HF is a total different ball game. I'm so thankful for the great nursing education I got from VEEB in addition to my job in the nursing home to get me through HF. Although I must say I'm thankful for the opportunities HF has given me since there are many more employment pathways once you become an RN.

What step's did you use to get into HF?

So I posted this in a previous thread, but thought it was relevant to the question you asked. Hope this helps.....

I went to this school to get information on the program. The recruiter was very nice and accommodating, gave me all the information about the program and what is expected. I told her I'm a Mildred-Elley student (which they have articulation with), which should make it easier to get into the school and you don't have to take the entrance exams (within 2 years of graduating). Of course no one at ME told me this while I was attending. Next I asked about transfer credits and I was told they will transfer prior college credits that apply to the program (science courses 5 or less years and non-science courses 10 years or less). But, they won't transfer ME science courses (any of ME c. Nedits)because it's not college level science courses and those are certificate courses. Excuse the hell out of me.... I know some courses are totally different, but come on. I feel it's all about making money, why should I have to repeat science courses that I already have. And the last time I checked Mildred-elley college is an accredited "college."

So you may want to do your research to see if they will acknowledge your previous coursework. Good luck to you

Thank u so much for that information I really appreciate you

Girlllll! Let me tell you, you don't know how upset when I heard that either! I go to VEEB, and I was hoping at least these credits will transfer, but NOPE. We've literally taken most of these classes from the A&P to the psychology, but our LPN courses are only certificate courses. So I'm guessing our PN coursework isn't necessarily accredited, which sucks. Honestly going to try to take my prereqs at cuny or something so I can transfer those over to Helene Fuld, which should lighten my course load, since I've heard it was hell there. Sigh.

Hi guys, I have a question a former Helene fuld student told me they accepted her anatomy and physiology classes that were done online, is this true. Does anyone know if Helene requires A&P time have a lab, or they accept the course without a lab???

You need a lab. Empire State College has online AnP with LAB that I THINK HF accepts. You can call HF and ask them if they accept sciences from "such" school. When you get your transcript, it won't say "online" anyway so you will be good.

Lily CLEP Human Development, Psych and Socu. Take your sciences through A SUNY school with lab online if it's not too difficult for you. I strongly believe HF will take the sciences. Just call and ask. Then you will only have to take English and Nursing at HF.

Thanks I wasn't sure if the classes would indicate it was "online"
