Helene Fuld Review

U.S.A. New York

Updated:   Published

Hi, currently in a Practical Nursing program and due to graduate in about 2 months. Helene Fuld seems like the most direct LPN-RN program in NYC. From what I've heard it can be hell on earth, or it's amazing. Was just wondering if I can hear from any recent students or those whose opinion of the school may still be relevant today.

Thank you, Lili

Some one just told me about Cayuga college online it's a sunny school as well, apparently their transcript doesn't distinguish between online courses and in person as well.

I didn't go to HF but I do want to give a little advice cause sometimes we are all in the dark. If your school is regionally accredited (like community colleges/ state university systems) you have a way better chance to transfer credits. When you attend this high priced, for profit schools, with mostly "trade" type of programs, they are usually nationally accredited (credits transfer based on the school you are going to). YES you will always need a science with labs when you are going beyond LPN, it doesn't matter if it's online. EDUKAN is a group of community colleges with online courses. They are known for $150/credit (in or out of state). They have science courses with labs.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I do want to know... Did you work during Helene fuld??, if so what shift is best... I'm not sure when classes start and end...or if only working weekends is a option.

I worked 7-3 at the nursing home while going to HF and went to school in the evenings. I only took AnP, Micro and the nursing classes there in one year. I CLEPped the 3 general ed classes and I had English already. The last 2 semesters are a little harder (nursing 223/224) so I only worked 4 morning shifts weekly.

I applied to your response but it didn't post. I wanted to sincerely thank you for answering my questions. You have been a great help. I was thinking about working overnight and attending evening courses, how working in the day and school in the evening sounds like a better option. Once again thanks for all of the information you provided!

So I posted this in a previous thread, but thought it was relevant to the question you asked. Hope this helps.....

I went to this school to get information on the program. The recruiter was very nice and accommodating, gave me all the information about the program and what is expected. I told her I'm a Mildred-Elley student (which they have articulation with), which should make it easier to get into the school and you don't have to take the entrance exams (within 2 years of graduating). Of course no one at ME told me this while I was attending. Next I asked about transfer credits and I was told they will transfer prior college credits that apply to the program (science courses 5 or less years and non-science courses 10 years or less). But, they won't transfer ME science courses (any of ME c. Nedits)because it's not college level science courses and those are certificate courses. Excuse the hell out of me.... I know some courses are totally different, but come on. I feel it's all about making money, why should I have to repeat science courses that I already have. And the last time I checked Mildred-elley college is an accredited "college."

So you may want to do your research to see if they will acknowledge your previous coursework. Good luck to you

What exams didn't you have to take? Was it the TEAS exam that you didn't have to take?
