Helene Fuld College of Nursing 2021-2022

Published

Hello everyone!  I'm currently in the process of applying to Helene Fuld for January 2022.  I keep seeing conflicted information or not enough.  So I believe they're going to transition to a semester system, don't what the means for us.  What are their chem and nursing skills like?  How many times a week would we have to show up.  When are clinicals done and how long are they?  Are we really going to have to trek out to Harlem for a 75 min class a few times a week?  Any assistance/advice would be appreciated!

I’m not too much help as I am starting my first semester next month(Lpn-RN). The nur 121 course is pretty straightforward. We were only in class one day a week. I chose the morning class so we were there 9a-3p. The SCI course was pretty good as well but its ALOT of course work jammed into the 8 weeks for this one. We were in class once a week 330p-9p. I would say stay on top of your studying for the SCI course. We are changing to the semester program in Sept. Most of the classes meet only once a week so that’s pretty good. I’m just not sure what our clinicals are going to look like. But we do have our orientation coming up so I’m pretty sure they’ll explain it to us then.

So the LPN to RN and HF is one year? Does the addition of SCI and skills lab, etc make it more than 12 months?

So my understanding is that LPN to RN is 18 months now without the Science and Nursing skills.  My Science class currently meets from 6-9 two days a week and Nursing skills class is from 5-9 once a week.  I was told that we choose ONE day a week for clinicals

No, the LPN - RN program changed to a semester program and there are 4 semesters. So it equals out to 18months excluding the two prerequisite classes. Just to give you an idea of the actual timeframe, I started the actual program in Sept 2021 and I’ll be finished Dec 2022.

Wow. Thank you. I will stick with my plan then to attend one of 2 community colleges that are one year total.

Hello.

What are these 2 community colleges?

With regards to transferring of credit, how can one know the schools/colleges HF would accept credit from.

I am enquiring about the A&P,Microbiology etc?Would HF accept from Straightline,Edukan and SUNY ONLINE?

Would it matter if ,for example, their A&P is 3 credits and its 4 credits from another institution?

If one hasn't done the A&P1 and 11 courses etc before being admitted into HF,can more still take them concurrently (with HF courses)  from other institutions ?Would HF allow this? Thanks a lot

Hi Zerifi,

What I did was emailed someone, forgot who exactly, the course descriptions? from the course catalog at those schools to see if HF would accept them.  May also depend on the school accreditation as well.  The amount of credits doesn't matter as long as they accept the course from that school.  I highly doubt that you can take courses concurrently.  Also, I believe that they only accept transfer credits up until your start date at HF or soon thereafter

Sounds great.

Thanks a lot!

I hope your classes are going well so far. So do you have clinicals and classes on the same day or are they on separate days? On the website for course descriptions for clinicals it mentions Six 75-minute sessions a week. So clinicals are six days a week? Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.

Classes are going good, thank you! No clinicals aren’t the same day as your classes(unless you choose that). Basically the director of clinical sends a mass email to the students with a virtual signup sheet with a list of available slots and you choose what best suits you. But if you have class on let’s say Monday 5p-8p, you can’t choose a clinical slot that’s 2p-1030p. Now if they have a spot that’s 7a-330p on Monday, you can do that but you just have to make sure you will be in class on time. And clinicals are only one day a week.

is helen fuld competitive school to get into? I'm in the LPN  program right now at veeb. My grades aren't the best. My GPA is a 2.9. My prerequisite grades mostly linger around a B or A.  I've failed 1 anatomy and physiology II but retaken it and got a B.  Would this hinder my chances of getting accepted?
