My GI/GU
I just wanted to say that I have so much respect for men that are and that are working on becoming a Nurse. I am a student myself and I hear a lot of other students in my class making fun of the guys all of the time. The heck with them!! I think its great and I think that if anyone in Nursing school or someone that is already a Nurse thinks differently than that they are nothing but unprofessional!!
haha this is common in nursing evidently. I am the only single person in our group of 50. It's...interesting. Also, I am in LTC right now and every other resident keeps asking me when I am going to "settle down" and find myself a man.
I think the encouragement has alot to do with the fact that we work in a field that attracts pretty traditional people. When I was going for my poly sci degree no one ever commented on my being single, it was more or less expected.
Anyways, that made me laugh and good luck finding someone!

What's up with these instructors telling students to get a man/woman?They need to mind their own business, and stick to teaching.
I disagree. They shouldnt go and try to match you up or something or buy you an account on match.com but they are just being human. I thinks its a sort of bonding. Obviously having a girlfriend or boyfriend or partner isnt a bad thing.
Does anyone else notice that guys in nursing school have girls in nursing school hanging all over them like they are a piece of meat? Even the married moms flirt with them! I have seen it with my own eyes... Its like they are so astonished that a MALE is in nursing and they are around mostly females, so they need to be around the testosterone. Its very strange. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing.
Maybe your teacher was hitting on you, I dont know why else she would say mention anything about your personal life. Thats a no no.

The first thought that came to my mind also was that she was hitting on him. Didn't he say that he ran into the teacher and this wasn't in class then I suppose. That is why I thought he was being hit on.
Everybody is missing an important point. The instructor was his GI/GU instructor, and he said he barely passed. Obviously, she was giving him academic advice - he needs a girlfriend so that he can do some subject review before he takes the NCLEX.
OK, I dont get ur rationale......friends can help with subject review....

meh, i didn't take it personally at all, and no my scrubs are always clean =). I think she said it because I don't socialize much either like a previous poster said, but you know, now that I think about it, a girlfriend right now wouldn't be such a bad thing... =)
