WooHoo Blue!!! Congrats!!!

Zoe, it was NOT intentional, but wow, her PT was over 80 and INR was over 7! She was a mess. But she was doing great by the time I went home and the Doc told her she would probably be released the following day - yeay! :) I soooooo love nursing!!!

Well all, I am on my 3rd 32ozer of water and getting ready to head home. Had my hubby pick up some salad when he went to town today, so I plan on eating healthy tonight too!

I listen to you talk about your clinical - man, I was so scared that I don't think I ever really enjoyed them, and I almost wonder if I ever really LEARNED anything!!! Sigh..

enjoy your water (lol)

Thanks Zoe! I'm sure you learned a ton from clinicals. I have been frightened beyond belief up until recently, now I feel like I am actually retaining information though. It's funny though because I still feel like I know next-to-nothing, but I am extremely lucky to have awesome nurses and instructors who are helpful and believe in teaching. It is making the experience wonderful for me! I think maybe, some day, I might even actually get to be good at this (like 20 years down the line - hehe). :)

Water is gone, now time to go home.

Have a great next couple of days everyone!

Blue, you gorgeous skinny back woman. Way to go :) Although I don't know which way this thread is going with your talk of lingerie and Zoe's talk of naked vegetables  . . . Isn't anyone moderating this, LOL ;)

I love vegetables (especially broccoli, just barely steamed) marinated in Italian dressing. That "zip" makes it feel more like a meal. Good suggestions, Zoe, I'll be trying some of them. Sometimes it's just hard to come up with new ideas, KWIM?

I completely agree with hospitals/gov't needing to play a bigger (no pun intended, LOL) role in health assistance. I've got to go study for a test now, or I'd write more, but it's funny sometimes to see the meals dietary sends up for the ADA diets. My more compliant patients will tell me there's nothing to eat on the tray that is appropriate and they're right. No cake, but a ton of pineapple.

Gardendove, you're so right about eating perfectly not being a real solution. Our bodies were designed to tolerate a lot of variety and a lot of diets don't take that into consideration.

Muffie, you started out the day well and my money's on your finishing it well, too. Your breakfast sounds good.

Tweety, you are so close. Yippee! It kind of feels good to be closing in, doesn't it? I'm going to work on my BSN, but I'm taking off a year to get my feet wet at work. I'm thinking new job, new school, family, etc. is just more than I want to bite off right now.

Sarah, your clinicals sound great! I love those days you go home dragging your feet, but flying in your heart because they went so well.

I'm coming off five days of 12-hour work/clinical days and we had Education Day at work all day, so there's six. My workouts have definitely taken a back seat, but I've been trying to eat better at work. . . and ignore the treats in the break room. Once my test tomorrow afternoon is over, I'm going to come home, crash and then pick up where I left off.

Um, yah!

This is a great thread, thanks Tweety! :)

Good luck hikernurse!

Zoe, heart disease is still the #1 killer, Diabeties is around 8....we've made great strides in education for sure, but are people coming around? Heart disease is epidemic. But this thread is more about us than society anyway. LOL

Garden, I'm in an online RN to BSN program. I'm currently taking "Leadership and Management" in Nursing it's booooooring. It's tough because I'm picking up some overtime shifts here and there, and it's cutting into my studies, or making my days off filled with more studying that I like. It's all good though.

I do agree that being too strict and restrictive sets yourself up. Believe me, that is not my problem. I do like to share with my friends here when I slip up though, it helps to talk about it, so I can get right back on track. Last night I ate Snickers bar while at the bowling alley. hehehe

Hiker, just make sure that sure doesn't turn into 15 like my "I'm going to take just a little time off first because I'm burned out from school" break did. LOL

Sarah, sounds like school clinicals are going well. Any nurses eating their young yet and spitting out out. We love doing that.

Yes, I love eating young, they are so delicious, it's part of my health plan.

Leadership and Management doesn't exactly sound riviting.

[color=#483d8b]anyone here ever tried acupuncture? i have in the past and found it quite soothing. i'm thinking about doing it again.

yeah, but i am a little biased.

actually acupuncture with cupping is amazing for treating doms as well as a strained muscle. i also sometimes get muscle twitches in my legs at night if i did a very heavy leg workout, and acupuncture works great for that (as does cal-mag with 2:1 ratio).

in terms of exercise, after a hiatus i started up my periodization training program. i am doing 6 weeks of anatomical adaptation (aa), which consists of 2 circuits of mixed weights and cardio. it is rough, but luckily for the first week i am only doing about 40% of my 1rm on the weights. i should do the session 4 times a week, and i hope to stick two extra days of cardio on the off days.
