Today I'm not going to the gym, just going to walk the dogs briskly later.

I always found that my dogs walked ME! REALLY hairy when there was ice on the ground (!!!).

Do you ever watch that show -- I think it's called "Dog Whisperer"?

... I'm getting tons, and I mean tons, of new information.Brain circuit overlaod would describe my mental status by the end of the day.

I would imagine!!!

Zoe, I haven't seen that show. But given that my dogs are 11 and 12 lbs each, there's only so much walking of me that I allow, although the younger one does try.

Where did I get the idea yours were gigantic? I could have sworn that's what you said. In that case, when you walk "briskly" they probably look like they're flying! (or maybe they are!)

This "Dog Whisperer" is great for all kinds of behavioral problems - wish I had seen him back when I had my 2 black lab/springer spaniels, those two were INCORRIGIBLE!

They are Italian Greyhounds and can really walk fast with their long little legs. :)Dogs2006.JPG

I believe high-quality extra-virgin olive oil should not be used in cooking ... as some of the nutrients in olive oil become less effective when heated. For that reason, I recommend that it be mixed into food once the food has cooled.

This view is also heavily promoted (not cooking with olive oil) by Dr. Joseph Mercola (http://www.mercola.com). Although some of his newsletters are a bit wordy, there is a lot of useful info there. I also learned from his website about the horrors of high fructose corn syrup. It's in a LOT of processed foods, even ones I formerly consumed (i.e. Kern's nectar). Now I avoid buying/eating anything with that stuff in it. I don't crave sweets like I used to.

Good morning everyone!

No exercise all week. Have had a nasty head cold that has moved on to bronchitis. I'm getting tired of sneezing and hacking, and am gettng achey from not moving around enough. Hope it runs its course soon! I'm doing everything - including LOTS of fluids, Vit C, echinacea, Z pack for the bronchitis, saline nasal spray, sugar free cough lozenges, shea butter to my nose that is peeling, and I'm ready to buy stock in Kleenex. I know, whine city. I'm not a very patient patient.

Snif.

You aren't supposed to cook in olive oil? I hadn't heard that. I use it all the time.

Yes, there are LOTS of ingredients on products that don't say "sugar", but they ARE sugar ...

brown sugar

corn sweetener

dextrose

fructose

glucose

high-fructose corn syrup

invert sugar

lactose

maltose

malt syrup

raw sugar

sucrose

sugar

syrup

It seems to me there are a few more that are more cleverly disguised. I also seem to recall that honey, although considered "healthier", is also considered a sugar. Can anyone help me on that?

I agree Liebling that abstaining from them makes me crave them less, I feel better, and I also lose more wt!

I hope so too Bluehair! Maybe it's just your body getting rid of the garbage you have stopped giving to it? I am not a very patient either, I'm very whiiiiiny (well, I'm whiny anyway ...)

I think you can still cook in it, but you won't get the benefits? That's what I got from the articles, but I dunno.

Have a good day guys!

Wow this thread moves fast...

Hello to all that said hi.

This morning I found out that I scored enough on the med-surg ATI test to get enough extra points to put my Adult Health 2 score up to an A (95%). If we scored above the 90th national percentile, we got several percentage points added to the grade. Good times.

Today I am not going to the gym, but I am going to indulge in a time-honored past time used to mark the end of a quarter - drinking strong Belgium ales, particularly Delerium Tremens [what a great name for a beer]. Then I plan to kick off my week break by hitting the gym the next three days, starting on all the reading for peds next quarter, and seeing a few patients interested in herbs. Oh, and spending time OUTSIDE with my son.

I love active relaxation.

I love Belguim bottle conditioned ales!!!
