I'm trying to get back on track. Over the past 9 months, I have lost 37 pounds -- but haven't lost any in the past month. I haven't gained any back, but I haven't lost any lately. My "dream goal" is 75 pounds, but that's probably unrealistic. However, 50 pounds should be do-able and I should do it.

I've been cheating on my diet -- just little bits here and there -- not enough to make me gain weight, but enough to keep me from losing.

So, I need to start again.

I think a weight loss of 37 lbs is awesome, and I'm very happy for you! I think what is most difficult for me regarding "cheating" is the whole deprivation issue. I just don't think that depriving oneself of something one wants is healthy. I really don't. You know, if I want a piece of cake, I WANT A PIECE OF CAKE!!! I've learned, though, that there are healthier alternatives. A piece of fruit tastes good, and is far better for me. And if I really need the cake, then I'll have a smaller piece, just to take away the craving. I then try to work out a few minutes longer the next day (I know that sounds like punishment!) and make it a point to avoid the temptation to do it again the next day. And you know, I've discovered that virtually everything has a fat-free or sugar-free alternative. And it's amazing how inventive one can become with lots of protein and fresh veggies!

I wish you much continued success; you're doing great!

Hi all!

Man, everyone is doing so well!!! Welcome Ilg et al! Go Don!!!

Update:

just got back from Vegas (again). Excuse: celebrate my reaching the 'age of reason' as some say (50). Pigged out, did get some exercise but not much. Walked my lil feet off today to begin penance and compensation. Will hit the scale in the a.m. to find out damages from the trip overall.

Writing papers while traveling can be done but is harder, particularly when your instructor is exceptionally picky re: format issues, capitalize this, no don't capitalize that, and make sure you get it all in before midnight east coast time. Vegas is in pacific time, so that limits submission by 3 hours at the end of the day. Doing okay so far though.

Glad to see everyone is doing well!!!!

Back on the wagon for me....

llg, looks to me that you are doing great all things considered. Heck everyone has a time where they either peak or just need a break. You are doing fantastic. About that 75lbs, heck, I know you can do it.

Okie dokie now for my update. walk now up to 3miles as of today. I think I will try to stay at 3 miles for the next 2 weeks, in addition to weight training before adding on another mile. We shall see. My walking partner is wonderful.

On saturday, I went to our little work out area and started exercising my medial leg muscles. (Now that is really helping with my knee issues, because, I have uneven pulling from the lateral and medial muscles. One day, I will learn all the names of these muscles ;).) Dang if the elliptical didn't kick my hiney Saturday. That only lasted about 2-3 minutes then off to the treadmill to slow down my heart rate.

Planning on purchasing one of those wrist things to keep track of my heart rate when I am walking. Hopefully, on my next paycheck.

The boys were in the neighbors pool for about 30minutes today. I think they are getting a bit tired of the pool. DH took them to 2 different local --i.e. very small--zoos on Saturday. So we are all slowly improving over here.

Oh, I bought a melon ball cutter thingymabob. My kids love it and it makes eating cantelope fun. Now to work on the 30lb watermelon:lol2:.

Have a great day everyone.

good to see you gentle and llg :). welcome back.

you guys are doing great. i haven't been doing *too* badly myself. i've gone to the gym and running a few times last week and (other than today, ugh!) have been eating better. i've tried hard to make sure i'm hungry for awhile before i eat--that way i eat less and enjoy it more.

hey tweety, i've resurrected an old post you made and i had a question about it--it's health, or at least germ, related ;).

a couple of times a week i spray workshoes with lysol. i doo my regular shoes too, but that's because i have stinky feet.

here's my (very dumb) question. do you spray the outside or the inside of your shoes and does it work? does it irritate your feet at all? i've got three 12's a week now and it's a long time to keep feet in shoes, lol. i want to go back to dansko's, but they don't have a heck of a lot of ventilation.
