Good luck on the finals hiker - no my semester isn't over because I am in the part-time program, so we take classes through the summer as well. We will be finished with the LPN year June 30th and then start up our RN year around the first part of August - July will be like a fantasy for me, LOL!

Hi everyone! Sorry I don't have time to post to everybody - I have two papers to write and a care plan to finish from clinicals over the weekend. Yikes! I am so excited though - started my first IV on a real patient yesterday - WooHoo!!! I got called down to the ER, the lady had been vomiting for 4 days, was dehydrated, and started the whole thing by telling me nobody can ever get an IV going in her the first try. That made me nervous as all get-out, but you know what, I found a good vein, steadied myself, and I actually got it the first try! WooHoo!!! That made my whole day, I am so excited! (It's good to know I can do an IV and not pass out - hehe.) Anyway, a little accomplishment I'm sure, but it thrilled me to pieces!

My patient had an NG tube on low suction, a fistula that required frequent care and drainage, and a Q-port and PICC line, so I learned a ton this weekend. I feel like I am actually finally doing nursey stuff rather than floating around and it feels wonderful!

So - the diet has been good, I've been working outside a lot for exercise, and I am feeling great. I love summer!

Hope y'all have a wonderful, healthy day!

Hi everyone, just a quick check-in today. Feeling totally crummy, head's stuffed and achy, and I'm feeling generally icky and nauseous.

Something's going around and I've apparently gotten a dose. So back to bed with me as soon's I decide if I can handle a couple of Tylenol.

Anyhow.... today the scale said 233.

I don't usually believe the first reading, I usually wait a couple days and if the number stays there I'll post it.

DH must be losing, as he's c/o his pants falling down. :D It's working, yay!

Woo Hoo Angie and DH!!!

I actually went to the gym straight from work yesterday. A good habit. I'm going to try to do it again tomorrow and Thursday, but one day at a time.

ER and Zoe, thanks--your good luck offerings must have worked :)

Angie--aw, I hope you feel better soon. That sounds miserable :(

Tweety--great job about going to the gym. Whenever I plan to go after work, I always end up too tired, but you're doing well :)

Sarah--are you planning to work as an LPN? We had the option of testing after our first year and I'm glad I did. I was working as a CNA before, so it ended up being a pretty good raise and the experience was invaluable. I bet you ARE looking forward to July ;)

Finals are over, I had a nice lunch with friends then went on an awesome bike ride. Found out the secret to riding is wearing the padded shorts--you'd think my rear end had enough padding, but I guess not  Now that I don't have homework to do, I'm kind of at a loss. . . But guessing I'll get used to it soon enough, LOL.

And BTW, y'all can call me Graduate Nurse Hiker now :D

Sorry to hear about the yuckies Angie, but hopefully you will feel better soon! Congrats on the weight for both of you - WooHoo!

Yeay for the gym Tweety! I have been walking after work and I am feeling much better because of it. I plan to go for my walk just as soon as I can get home today!

Congratulations GRADUATE Hiker Nurse!!! WooHOOOOOOOOOOoooooo!!! I am sooooo proud of you!

Hi and healthy living to everybody else!

Hiker, I don't know if I'm going to work as an LPN or not, I really want to, but I have a very flexible job and make slightly more than a LPN right now, so I may just stick with it and hold out until I become a RN. I am thinking of going ahead and taking the PN boards anyway though so that if I want to do something here or there, I have that option. Haven't fully decided yet. I sooo wish I could work as an LPN, but I know that for my family and my need for a flexible schedule, the job I have now is the best option.

Well, I have been getting in all my water and veggies every day and am really excited about that and finally, this week, about 3 people have commented on my weight loss, so it must be showing - yeay! :)

Take care everyone & have a happy, healthy day!

Hi everyone!

Have been trying to catch up on everything since we got home. Chores are caught up, work is caught up, school is on right on track. First class back to school has been interesting. I feel like I'm trying to stear the Queen Mary with a row boat paddle, trying to get my brain into gear to be writing papers! Submitted my first paper (English Comp 102). Final weight post vacation is exactly the weight I was when I left on vacation - WOOOT! Pizza and beer, Mexican food, Emeril's, cheesecake, etc. all 'happened in Vegas & stayed in Vegas'!!!

Ms. Graduate Hiker - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! You make sure to have a party to celebrate!!!

Angie - Congrats!!! I do the same thing. I don't believe the weight is really off until it stays off for at least 3 days in a row! Hope you are over the crud really soon! Congrats to DH as well!

Muffie - your focus and tenacity are inspirational! My personal carrot consumption is up as a result of your example.

ER - thanks for those prayers! No news at the moment.

Sarah - you could view the LPN boards as a dry run for NCLEX. Good idea sticking with the flexibility. It's worth it's weight in gold, especially while you are in school!

Tweety - Good job on the after work gym schedule! I keep hoping to pull that off, but usually am either to distracted and come home via auto pilot, or too pooped. The few times I have pulled it off I do feel better, it's just getting there that seems to be the issue.

Greetings to everyone I missed! Gotta go review a few things and take a quiz!
