Hiker, I thought about a gym membership, but I'm afraid that we probably would use it for a couple of months, then slack off. So we'll probably try walking or something easy for awhile.

I'm kind of a cheapskate ;) so I keep track of how often I use my membership; I subtract the "day" rate each time I go from what I paid for my annual pass. Then when I finally break even and then get ahead, I feel like I'm really getting a good deal :) But walking is a nice way to exercise and communicate, too. DH and I usually leave the kids at home and then it's fun.

As far as your earlier post about your hubby planning on using his work as exercise, have you explained the wonder of endorphins? I swear, most days, that's the only thing that gets me to the gym.

{{{{{{{{{{Guys}}}}}}}}}}}}} Supposed to have snow here tomorrow, EASTER! 39 degrees for a HIGH! I bought these nice shoes that are totally inappropriate for snow :( -- and my new outfit will look so caché er, awfulée, with my bean bootés!

Zoe, I think you are quite capable of starting a new style! Next week at church, you'll see everyone wearing spring dresses with their winter boots :)

I gave my grandsons their easter baskets last week and the 1 1/2 figured out if you throw the plastic eggs on the ground, they break open and you can eat the candy......not sure his mom liked that...oh well.

My little girl calls it "hatching" the eggs :)

I had a pretty good day yesterday, food-wise. Tweety, I thought about what you said about sodium and decided that we'd worry about that later. First we need to get the weight off and the cholesterol down. I really think that just limiting our food consumption will probably have a good effect on our sodium consumption as well.

The trip to the doc's was a great opportunity for me to do a little teaching, because there were heart models there and there was a model of a plaqued artery at various stages. DH kept asking, "What exactly did I do to cause this event?" and I kept trying to reinforce that it's like when my back goes out--it might not be one big thing, but it's more like the last straw in a series of conditions.

I showed him how the plaque collects on the artery wall and from there it was easy to demonstrate how a piece could break off, cause an injury and clot off the next portion of the artery.

I hope that made sense. He said it did.

Sodium is probably the one thing I do well, here. I prefer things very lightly salted. I do eat too much prepared food, though. My BP is usually really low--too low I think sometimes. Not so much my weight, though ;)

I didn't realize how much people didn't truly understand the things that happen physiologically to themselves until I started working as a nurse. I love the education part of our jobs! I've always liked reading about medical stuff and figured everyone else did, too, LOL. I bet what you taught your husband was very helpful. Sometimes seeing something from a model is more informative than reading about it in a pamphlet. Good teaching, my friend.

What a lot of us don't realize is that healthy food tastes good and it's not like you're giving up anything, but weight, poor health and morbidity.

This would make a good sig :)

get it on

or get on with it !!!

As would this . . .

Good luck with ww! I bet you'll do great.

I think the stress of school, work, kids, etc. is doing me in. My daughter, who is in college, said that everytime she sees me, I've got another nasty cold. I think maybe she's right :( Of course, maybe the solution is simply for her to come home more often

Hi guys!!!

Wow! PMS + Easter candy from kids = not good weekend healthwise. Oops! Oh well, back on track today! I think I have a chocolate hang-over, so I won't do that again any time soon - LOL!

Did everybody have a good Easter?

I did 0 studying yesterday in lieu of playing with my kiddos and cuddling - it was worth the sacrifice - I am going to study today in between clients and then I am going to leave at 11:00 tomorrow to go home and study before our comprehensive final at 6:00. I'm not too worried though, I think I'll be ok. :)

Have a happy, healthy day y'all!

Thanks Muffie! I am bad about trying to do too much all the time, so it was really good just to relax and enjoy the family for a day. :) I need to do that more often - it's good for my mental health - and theirs. ;)

Yay for water Muff - I am being good and drinking tons of the stuff today! Glad you are feeling good - I love that because then it seems self-perpetuating (sp?) where you just want to keep feeling better and better. :)

Good luck on the test, Sarah, sometimes a little R&R is exactly what you need.

Muffie, it is amazing how different a few days can make you feel, isn't it.

Hi Zoe!

I might've overdone it a bit today because I had to eat something with my pill this afternoon. So I'm going to probably just have a bowl of salad when DH gets home (I'm making him some seasoned chicken and cauliflower) and then save a snack for later, just in case.

I've been having a lot of fish lately come to think of it. Oh well, it can't hurt and it's what I really want to eat.

I was tempted to have some chocolate reading yesterday's GM thread, so I had some salad with vinegarette and that basically killed the desire.

I think that's a record--first Easter I didn't kill at least one chocolate bunny.

But it's for a good cause...

Sarah....Good for you, we all need some time for ourselves, I call it a mental health day, and good luck on your test, let us know how it goes.

Muffie.....its amazing how you feel when you get the right amount of water..I have to really think about it to get mine in.

Angie......sounds like you did real good yesterday, congrats.

Zoe.....Howdy girl, ty for the other threads, I love reading your posts, I have gotten to where I look for your posts.....don't wanna miss anything.....lol

Hiker...I like that...hatching the eggs, I think my grandsons hatched too many yesterday, I could hear them screaming in the background, too tired for their naps....lmao....can remember when it was my kids that tired.

Tweety......how are you doing today?

To anyone I might have missed....I hope your weekend was wonderful.

Sarah - Good for you for taking a mental health day!!! It just might make you even more energetic than usual! Good luck on your tests.

Angie - You are so strong! Rare is the individual who can say no to Bunnie Ears on Easter. Better yet, your choice of salad instead!

Muffie - Sounds like the points thing is working for you so far? I know what you mean, as far as the feeling better with just a few changes...

Hiker - sorry you're sick again. Are you part Scotch? Not everyone takes such a thrifty approach to the whole gym membership thing. :lol2:

Zoe - OMG, I started choking I was laughing so hard, picturing you in your easter bonnet and Bean boots! Even more picturing the easter dress combined with roller blades! What a hoot!

Yawn! I'm pooped! Time to finish out the day for today! Hi to anyone I missed!!

See ya all later!!!

Hello! I'm doing well. Off to work in a few. I'm bringing my gym clothes and hoping to stop by the gym after work, to see how that goes.
