Hi everyone!

Cas - good for you!!! Yup, I've done that before too. One little chocolate bar slip up suddenly becomes the reason I can't possibly eat fruit and veggies the rest of the day, or go for a walk, or anything. All or nothing shouldn't be part of healthy living or no one would get started!

So far so good this week - Made it to Curves this morning, walked the last 2 mornings, have stuck to a rational eating plan all week too.

Off topic news update - the bathroom plumbing is repaired, holes are closed. Walls are going to be textured and painted today, and hopefully by Monday the toilet will be coming out of it's current storage (in the bath tub) and be re-installed, new vanity installed and bathroom-life back to normal soon!

:balloons: :smiley_aa :yeah: :w00t:

Hi Blue - yes, the chocolate bar supercedes rational behavior for the rest of the day ... shouldn't be that way! Is it an intentional thing on my part, self-sabotage, or an excuse for me to binge? Sometimes I think so. On the other hand, absolute perfection is not possible nor healthy - so where is that middle ground for me?

As to the bathroom topic, it IS on topic - hygiene is one of the first things on our care plans don'tcha know... it is essential to "healthier living" lol

Hi everybody! Sorry, in a hurry here. I was good for lunch - avoided the "special" - chili dog & pie and went for a one-trip salad bar instead at our Baby Bear Hugs meeting - yeay! I am all hyper though - had 2 capuccinos and a mountain dew. Need to settle down with the caffeine, but got home late from school last night and had to be at work early, so just trying to get through today.

Have a happy, healthy day y'all!!!

Zoe, you crack me up! Actually, the tune I have had today has been more along the lines of Elvis, even tho it's not Christmas... "I'll have Bluuuuuue Christmas, without youuuuu". More of a blues sorta theme. Water is back off again. When they were installing the new vanity, they had troubles with the valves to the sink. Got 'em turned off and they wouldn't turn back on. So the worker involved, rather than bother his boss, just sawed them off so he could re-apply new ones. Except then he couldn't get new ones on for some reason (wrong size, late in the day...). And the guy had already calked the vanity in place, so he was having to be a contortionist under this not very large vanity to try to work on it all. Bottom line, back out for dinner and breakfast this morning, washing done in kitchen sink from a jug of water. We had to run to WalMart garden dept. last evening to fill a couple of buckets of water for flushing (neighbors weren't home and their hose isn't hooked up yet this season). :crying2:

More on this developing saga later...

Hello.

I went to the gym today and am being good. :)

Question. How to exercise when at work and how to exercise when you get home from work when you're already exhausted.

Flunky, I don't think being on your feet and walking the halls counts. It's not aerobic (look at how many obese nurses there are). What I do is climb the steps. I walk up the five flights and do so if I need to go somewhere. That's about the only time at work I have for any sort of exercise.

I work 12 long hours that extend sometimes longer, so I don't exercise after work. When I worked 8 hours, I came directly home and changed and went right back out without sitting down because if I sat down it was all over for the day.

Hey Tweety! Well done!!!

rn flunky - I work between 9-10 hour days, minimum 5 days/wk, sometimes more. There is no way I can come home and try to go back out to exercise, it just doesn't happen. I get up a little earlier and go to Curves before I get showered/ready for work. It's the only way I can get the cardio and weight aspects in. Usually I can pull this off about 4 days a week. I also wear a pedometer at work. I have to sit thru tedious meetings and it helps me realize when I have done more sitting than walking at various points in my day so I can make a trip or 2 up and down stairs. Weekends I walk (outside or treadmill, depending on weather) and do a yoga tape. The more consistent I am with exercise, the more energy and mental focus I have throughout my day. It's the last thing I really feel like doing some days, but those are the days I need it the most. So I take my medicine and get my butt in gear and am really glad for it later. Good luck!

Question. How to exercise when at work and how to exercise when you get home from work when you're already exhausted.

On lunch break alot of folks walk the perimeter of the hospital - 2 times around is a mile.

After work (12 hours) it is hard to work out - sometimes I just drive directly to the gym.
