Part IV
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
So, part of my healthy plan for this year is to simplified my life. I want to strip away unnecessary complexities so I can have more time to keep up my mental, spiritual, physical and emotional self in good working order. I have a specific plan of action for this.
Share your secret . . .
Great job on running on your lunch. I'll often run during my lunch break too, but it's only from patient to patient, LOL.
Blue, glad you're feeling better. Your trip sounds great. It's fun to travel with the girls! That sounds like a really neat thing to do--any extra room?
Sarah--congratulations. I'm proud of you. Feel free to toot your horn here--we appreciate the work you put in :) It's hard with classmates sometimes. I tend to share my lower grades but not so much the higher ones unless people ask.
Zoe, Zoe, Zoe, I feel your pain. If if would feel better, I could sew a smaller size label in your suit. It would help me But I have no pride . . .
I got the call today. I applied for a long-shot job in the NICU and they offered me the position. I'm so excited. I start after I graduate; I just need to have my temporary license. That gives me incentive to get through this semester.
How are things, Muffie?
Hi Liebling, ER, and Josh. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Hi everyone!
Zoe - that's not the literal definition, but it is a fairly accurate descriptive term I've heard. Sometimes the competitions are referred to as the Dancing Horses, etc. It is the full embodiment of JOY in my opinion, to connect with 1200+ pounds of muscle willingly dancing with you in response to the slightest shift in your body weight, the tiniest tweak of your little finger on the reins or light pressure of one leg. Fred Astaire couldn't do better if he tried!
Hiker - our rooms are full but if you can book a room you are welcome to joins us! My suitcase won't have any room for a stow away since I plan on shopping while there!
I did something for myself this morning I had forgotten about and wondered if any of you had heard of. It makes your hands feel SOOOOOOOO good!
Pour about a tablespoon of sugar in the palm of your hand. Pour a couple of tablespoons of olive oil or grape seed oil on top of the sugar. Proceed to use the mixture to scrub your hands - massage the backs of each hand, lower forearms, rub a little around your cuticles, you get the idea. Wash hands using mild liquid hand soap and nice warm water. Finish with a little hand cream and mmmmmm, nice and soft. Especially after a long winter washing hands at work!
Later!

That sounds great!

Hi Zoe!
Hiker - I agree with you, I really care about my classmates and don't want them to think I am trying to make them feel bad, so I don't share unless asked either. And even then, I only actually tell a select few that I trust and that's only if they ask me specifically. Others I just say "I passed". :)
Blue - I am soooo jealous of the horse show!!! I love to watch dressage, the riders are so graceful and the horses so beautiful! I sold my horses not too long after I started school (price of hay got too high with the drought and I don't have time right now anyway), but I sure do miss them! I was never near talented enough to ride like that, but I sure love to watch it! Glad you are working towards a pursuit of higher education, yeay!
Garden Dove, I love the idea of simplicity, that sounds great! Sometimes we get things so wild in our lives our poor bodies can't keep up anymore.
Hi anybody I missed!
Have a happy, healthy day everybody!
Hey, guess what I did yesterday? I had my MiniCooper being worked on at a body shop in the town where I work, which is 25+ miles, mostly downhill, from my home. They were done with it yesterday, called me at 4:30, and I had been planning to ride my bike to pick it up, I've always wanted to do that. I was scheduled for work at 7 pm, so I took off on my first bike ride of the year, 25 miles to work, down a beautiful canyon road. It took 2 1/2 hours, I was a little late. I had to go non stop due to time contraints. I picked up my Mini this morning after my 12 hour shift.
I want to do that one way ride again soon, when I have more time. It goes along a river, past cattle, horses, alpacas, and farms. It was great.
Thanks guys.
Garden, awesome about the bikeride. Cool. I know what you mean about simplifying your life. I think I'm there. Perhaps too there as my life is pretty quiet right now and could use some excitement.........but I'd better be careful what I wish for. Right now I like the quiet simple life.....with my cable tv, computer and such. :)
Dove - that ride sounds awesome! Spring is my favorite time to ride! The mini cooper sounds fun too. I'm waiting to hear some of the details on exactly how you are simplyifing your life - what's out, what's in.... Do tell!
Hiker - Congrats on your new job!!!!! That is SO exciting! Keep us posted on how it goes.
Sarah - Yeah, the price of hay and of horses in general was the major reason I ended up selling my horses too, plus the overwhelming time committment. I am one of those people that if I can't do something right, I won't do it at all, especially when it comes to working with animals. Both my horses ended up in Denver with a great trainer and a couple of teenagers who are loving all over them. I do miss them sometimes!
Tweety - I agree! I've learned to enjoy the slower times in life. They always seem to precede some more 'exciting' times.
Hi Zoe, Muffie, ER, Josh, and everyone else I can't remember!!!!!!
ACLS is going well, should be a half day tomorrow. Exercise is back on track, made it to Curves this morning and went for a walk too. Eating is doing okay too, tho could use a few more veggies and a little more water. Still waiting for my registration packet for school to arrive. I'm getting antsy to get going. Might feel differently in about a month! Lol!
Hope everyone is doing well!
OH - and let me be the first to wish y'all a very Green St. Patricks Day!
One thing I'm doing is selling a rental property that I own. Then, I want to pay off my house with the money from that, and not try to be a mogul in any way, shape, or form any more. I want to try to cut back unneccesary expenses. Everything you own creates work for you. Along that vein, I want to make a rule never to work more than my scheduled shifts at work.
Today, I cut down an extra cherry tree that we didn't eat the cherries off of, and I moved a Royal Anne Cherry tree near to it's place, I hope it does well. I was emotionally attached to that tree that I cut soley because my late husband planted it 13 years ago. I don't want my emotional attachments to complicate my life anymore. Sometimes the past can bog us down.

You are sooo right. I have a hard time letting go of things for that very reason, but when I do, it is so freeing. Good for you :)
And your bike ride sounds fantastic. I need to get a new bike--I am feeling sorely tempted now

Garden Dove, these sound like really wonderful changes! I have felt the same way but haven't been able to implement the changes too well - I am stuck on the "donate to Salvation Army" pile. Got a couple small loads out so far but still have more to pull out and pack up.
I ALWAYS worry for those who work more (especially if it is WAY more) than 40 hrs - I know life is tough, and people want to get ahead, but they never really do IMHO, and if they suffer health or emotional or family/relationships consequences, is it worth it?
Along that line I'm thinking about a smaller place this summer. I sure can get rid of some stuff, yes, but why not spend less and free up myself from some of those bills and etc., and start saving for what I REALLY want (one of which is that trip to Paris, an item on my "do before I die" list...)

What can I say? I'm sorry. It's really tough when life and people don't turn out the way you hope. You've been really strong to stick it out this long. I couldn't have done what you have. You're a good person and things will turn around--I know it's hard. Sometimes the only way is through. Not much consolation, there.
