Hi everyone!
Good luck with your weight loss goals. To vary your workouts,
here are two fun suggestions.
Kukuwa (Africian dance workout) www.lacd.net
Zumba (Latin dance workout) www.zumba.com
I have been using both workouts, and they are fun !!!!!!!!!!
jahra, those look like fun!I'm not sure the approach I'm going to use, but I'm starting today.
Good luck, Tweety! A consistant schedule is effective.
Find a few workouts/sports you like and it will be easier to stay
consistant. Both Zumba and Kukuwa are really fun!
A workout I found really helpful was the Quickfit system from Gilad.
It included a booklet on suggestions for eating right. The workouts
are cardio and strength-about 15-20 min each. It comes with a
schedule, but after you can mix and match !

Thanks. I've never heard of Quickfit. I do go to the gym 3 times a week and yoga twice. But being consistant about it has been a challenge lately.
Overeating junk food has been a big problem with me the last month or two. Being consistent over a long period of time with good healthy vegetarian eating is my goal and it's been elusive. I do o.k. for a week or so and go downhill. It's a pattern. Maybe I need a pyschologist. LOL

My goal too, that junk food needs to go!
But my sweet tooth takes me for a walk to the bakery!
Sounds like you have a good workout program going,
just keep going!! I like QFS by Gilad for the winter-I dropped
Curves because when we had a few blizzards the other year
it was impossible to go anywhere, let alone to Curves...
With a home program, I have no excuse!
Hi guys! Well, they changed our schedule around, so this weekend we ended up doing ambulation. That was actually pretty fun - we had to be each other's 'patient' and we had to take turns walking each other and falling on each other to do a controlled fall. We also had to assist each other from bed to chair and back. We had a blast! :)
Yesterday we had turkey roast, fresh peas out of the garden and potato salad for supper - yummy! :) I studied most of the day, so not much exercise, but it's ok because I got a lot accomplished!
Sounds like you guys are doing great, everybody's getting back on the right track and heading toward success - yeay! Summer is good for me, so hopefully it will be easier now that it's getting all nice and hot out!
Hello again :)
I forgot to check into this thread recently so I just spent a few minutes catching up. Seems like everyone is doing really well or at least being sane about things.
I have fully gotten into my out-of-school exercise routine - 5 days a week of running! I am alternating between 2 and 3 miles - I run for 1.5 miles and then walk the rest - hopefully by the end of the summer I'll be back to running 2.5-3 miles again (only to have to start over again during break). Oh well, tis the life of a student.
I do have a summer class which will go for 3 weeks from 9a-3p, then I work 3p-11p so that pretty much cuts out all but weekends and my day off for exercise for those 3 weeks which stinks big time. I figure I will just do the best I can. I just hate that as I age, taking time off from running means twice as long to get back to my old level of fitness. I know once school is done I will be able to exercise with real regularity again.
Have a good day, all. Oh, and Tweety - Chinese food is my biggest weakness, too!! Thankfully the 2nd shift crew is more into Italian, day shift does Chinese at least twice a week...I'd be a glutton if I worked 1st. :)
Sarah, it sounds like you are having a ton of fun with school...you are making me even more excited to start my class 7/10.
cheers!
Hi rn2be - glad I am a motivator. :) I am loving it and I hope I can keep that momentum going, but so far it is so exciting for me that the time is just flying! Glad you can still fit in exercise, that is wonderful. I really need to find a happy medium because I have pretty much dropped the exercise thing. Best of luck in building your stamina back up, it will come soon, I'm sure.

Hi sddlnscp -- what do the words on your avatar say? cute pic!~
xo
I am just saying hi - I have gained 20 lb since not being manic (lol). I'm also on a medication which makes you gain weight, crave carbs, AND lose the "I am full" message in your tummy! And so I am having to (sniff) discipline myself.
I did start a gym (YMCA) last week and I have always enjoyed that in the past - hopefully I can KEEEP GOING! They have many different cardio machines, weight training circuit, classes, a great pool ... I got a scholarship since I'm not working right now, cool, huh?
Also I have my bike in the car instead of up on the second floor in my apt., which was not conducive to my using it!

For some reason I can't give you guys a "normal" hug, I've tried 3 times but what you see above is all I could get - oh well, it's the thought that counts, right??

Ariciedee, I too struggle with peace of mind lately. Just don't have it at the moment. I've been trying to get back into my meditation practice. Meditated for a whole 4 minutes yesterday before my ADD kicked in and I had to do something. Yesterday was a busy day and it was hard to relax. I did manage to get 40 minutes of aerobics at the gym and some weight lifting. :)
Way to go Sarah!!! I remember those days well. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Nice to hear from you Mary. That's an interesting site.
