Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
Hi guys! Zoe, the SDDLNSCP is all my initials - yes, I have bizarre parents, but I love them - LOL!
Tweety - I can so relate - it is so disgusting when you think you are doing ok and then that dreaded scale sneaks up on you. I did ok again until last night and then I got ahold of the stupid chocolate-iced zingers! Good grief, what is wrong with me? I don't even like chocolate usually! Aaaargh! I have decided it is stress. I am applying for another job and I'm not 100% sure I want to leave where I work, but I would love to take the other job (pharm. tech at the hospital near the school I am going to). So anyway, I am not even sure if they will offer it to me or not (they always hire from within, so if somebody from there applies, then they are in automatically) but I am already stressing. Hopefully I can get that under control soon! Good luck with maintaining that BP, that is such a struggle! I need to work on mine a bit too, but one thing at a time. :)
Oh - about the school, I am just doing straight nursing classes. We were required to do all the non nursing classes as pre-reqs prior to starting so that we could concentrate only on nursing classes. Thank goodness for that - it is much easier to concentrate on one area at a time!
Well, it's another day - so I guess I'll try it again and see if it goes any better. I am an optimist, so hopefully that will help. There is no junk food here at the office (yet), so if I can get through the work day, I should be ok.
Good luck Sarah. Back in a day there were co-req courses like Sociology, English and what not that could be taken alongside nursing. But these days when they stretch an ADN out 4 years people don't do that anymore and they call them "pre-reqs". Nonetheless I agree it makes it so much easier. There was one girl in my class fresh out of high school (they took her chemistry and algerbra and did did well on the placement test), and she was taking Nursing Fundamentals, A&P I, English, Pyschology all at the same time. She made it through. Obviously she could not work. I did the opposite and took just nursing and worked full time.
I'm really stressing about my final exam today. There is just too much to remember to do. But what can you do. I'm going to do some housework to burn off some stress and then study one more time before I go do it. Wish me luck.

Good luck on the final exam Tweety!
You're a nurse, sock it to 'um!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mortarboard:
good luck tweety, you can do it!!! i have complete faith in you!
yeah, i would have to give up working if i had any more classes, which i could not do because my hubby and i's income would not feed the kiddos without both combined. i was kind-of upset when i first applied knowing i would have to wait so long to get in, but now that i look back on it, i am really glad because i couldn't have done it.
don't stress too much - you can do it! let us know how you did. i won't be back on here until next monday (my dad is coming in from ca, so i'm going to spend the rest of the week with him), but i'll want to know. i'm rootin' for 'ya! :)
Thanks guys. It didn't go well, as I had to do 80 exams in sequence and fumbled a bit, rearranging the order, and leaving some out. I think I passed, which is all that matters. The preceptor said I was a good nurse. Sigh..........funny how doing assessments all these years, I fumbled on actually doing one. We'll see.
I will say I'm off my diet for the day to celebrate the completion of the final and then end of class #11 in this program. Woot!!!

woot! gotta love those tangible motivators for school. :) my personal favorite is ben & jerry's with salt-n-vinegar chips nearby for that salty/sweet combo. :)
you deserve it, you worked hard. how many more classes do you have left, tweety?

Hi Sarah :)
I meant the picture of the two babies that you have with your signature, it's adorable! What does the quote on that picture say? "They look like little angels when they are asleep but..."? lol - I took lots of pix of my son sleeping so when I wanted to kick him to the curb I would remember, lol!

Jahra, you're right you have no excuse. I have no excuse either, as I live in Florida where there are no blizzards. :)
Sarah, it is indeed a challenge staying in shape while in school. Are you just taking nursing? Or are there co-req courses? I love earing about your journey.
RN2B, your summer school schedule sounds brutal. Good luck with that. But your "out of school" routine sounds good.
Zoe, always good to hear from you. Kudos for starting the gym. Making it a habit is the key. I was thinking the other day that I joined up for a year, then signed up for a three year plan which I renewed last year for the third time. So that's 8 years of going to the gym for me. Time flies. The results show more when I'm lean. :)
I got on the scale yesterday to weigh in for my "diet" and I was stunned at the results. I had gain 5 lbs!!! Not good. I'm hoping it was water weight from the salty foods I had the night before. Wishful thinking perhaps.
Speaking of salt, my BP has been borderline laterly, and I am frustrated by the amount of sodium in just about EVERYTHING I like, from cottage cheese, to salad dressing to canned beans (although I do try to buy Eden salt free beans I don't always get to the health food store where they are cheapest).
