Healthier Living Support - Part III

Published

Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

Blue, I just now noticed your avi, :lol2: You're gorgeous! I wish my hair did that :)

Muffie--that's awesome! Three pounds is a lot. That feels better to step on the scale, eh?

Zoe--you're awesome, too! Keeping five pounds off over the holidays is a big deal . . . as is losing five pounds in December. I love your "articles". Thanks.

Sarah, do you have to wait for your grades? We get our unofficial ones when we finish the test, but sometimes it takes a while for them to be posted on the web site.

Yep, I have to wait. I don't like the waiting part, I am one of those who wants to know right away. Oh well, I guess I can handle it - hehe. She said she will hopefully have it up before our next class (that's next Tuesday, so aaaaargh!). :p

yall getting your 5-10 in today ?

OK, OK :wink2: I'm heading down to the kitchen now :saint: You'd think that saint would look a little happier, mmm?

I know, Sarah. Somehow getting our grades posted isn't nearly the same priority for the instructors as for the students ;)

LOL - isn't that the truth! Where are you at in your schooling?

Fourth semester out of four! I can't believe how quickly it's going. Thirteen weeks left (we get a week off for spring break) of actual school, then I'm done! I was going to work on my BSN this fall, but I've got a little one who won't be in school for a few more years so I've decided to defer my BSN and enjoy being with him. Not much of a sacrifice ;)

Oh WooHoo!!! That is awesome! Congratulations - it will be so great when you are finished! Yeay! I can't wait until I am that far. I feel so inadequate this early in the ball-game. I know it does go by quickly, but if I think too far ahead, I feel overwhelmed. Yes, I think waiting on the BSN is a great plan - enjoy the little one because they are not little for long. I feel like I am missing a lot of my little ones' lives too, but I know it's going to be worth it and it's a small part of all of our lives and then it will be over. Best of luck - I hope you totally rock this semester!!! :D

Thanks, Sarah. I don't ever plan more than a week ahead because I would go nuts! My husband teases me because when the alarm goes off in the mornings I'll sit straight up and ask what day it is. In other words, where am I supposed to be this morning, LOL. That never happened until nursing school ;)

Yep - I can totally relate! Some days I look forward to Monday just because the only place I have to be that day is work - no class, no clinicals, just boring 'ol work - hehe. That's sad!

To clarify: Mid november is when I started eating better - so I made it thru Thanksgiving THAT way ...

Woo hoo, blue! I'm sure you look lovely, m'dear :).

I'm working nights this weekend, so I'm going to go ahead and post my goals for the coming week and recap this weeks.

Fruits and veggies/I did OK. Not perfect, but an improvement.

I worked out three times.

I did end up driving every day, unfortunately. BUT, it was all unavoidable school stuff. Other than that I walked. Fortunately, I live within a few miles of just about everywhere I need to go (except for school--and have I mentioned that will be over in May, LOL).

This week I will:

1. Work out three times

2. Catch up hydration wise

3. Be mindful of portion sizes (bad nursing goal because it's a bit hard to measure, but I can live with that, LOL)

and, since this is a holistic thread. . .

4. Get rid of six monkeys off my back: schedule my tests, return my library books, get and wrap my daughter's birthday gifts, schedule a dentist appointment (for a crown, ugh), get my cd's in order (right now Springsteen is living in Knopfler's case and Toby Keith is where Howard Jones ought to be, you know. . .), and catch up on my technical stuff (burn cd's class lecture, etc.)

Taking care of the stuff I've been putting off is sure to relieve some stress, no? And I'm going to call my mom who thinks I've dropped off the planet this semester :)

Hikernurse, I am in awe - I feel like such a slacker compared to you!

I too have a number of :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: :monkeydance: on my back ...
