Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

Someone had made a homemade key lime pie with key limes fresh off his tree and it was to die for.

TWEETY I don't blame you!

That's too bad about your knee, is it ok as long as you don't run?

Thanks Zoe. Every blue moon it acts up. But when I quit running I joined a gym and do exercises to keep it strong, as well as yoga. Yoga used to really hurt my knee, but I'm cured now. I've tried to go back to running and it only hurts. So no running for me. Too bad because I was ultra-skinny back then and never worried about my weight. Actually I got some negative feedback for being too skinny from my family. Go figure. :)

I plan on getting back on the wagon on Monday. Got my Curves membership renewed and everything. I have put on 18 lbs over the last 16 months - had varicose vains the size of your thumb (used to call them my peg boa's) up and down both legs that I have spent the last 1.5 years getting 'fixed'. Fried - radiofrequency ablation, punch phlebectomy's, etc. No exercise for the first few weeks after each one, then no sooner would I be getting back up to speed and it was time to have another one worked on. I gave up 'til it was all finished. Then came the home made pecan pie that was to DIE for. I calculated about 450 cal. per slice - and decided it was worth every calorie and went ahead and enjoyed 'em all!

We'll see how I feel about that next week... :uhoh3:

They were just jealous - HA HA HA! (Wasn't it the Duchess of Windsor who used to say that one can never be too rich or too thin?)

I'm glad your knee's better now! It must have been hard working with it like that!!

Hi Bluehair. Keep in touch and let us know what you're doing every day!

Today I'm going to the gym and trying to eat right. Woot!

Tweety, you'll be my 13 mile inspiration ;) I'm sorry about your knee. I worry about that happening, but I'm hoping for the best. It would be better for my knees if I weren't carrying around 25 extra pounds--nobody's accusing me of being too skinny, LOL. Now if somebody had brought homemade key lime pie anywhere near me, I wouldn't even feel guilty for eating a slice (or two, maybe three if they were small, LOL . . .

Zoe, walking is supposed to be better than running anyway. . . I just like the way running untangles my thoughts. I think I'm just an endorphin junkie.

Bluehair, do you really have to wait weeks after having your veins done? Ugh. I've got a couple hanging around from having babies and being a nurse doesn't help much. I haven't even looked into having anything done, yet, but I think I should. Peg boas--I'm still new to nursing and just figured that was a term I hadn't run across yet, LOL. Good luck on Curves; my friends who've done it, like it. Shrimp for dinner sounds good :).

I went to the gym today! And I'm going to order one of those big balls to "strengthen my core" . . . I just have to keep it away from DH and the boys who already think the house is one giant gymnasium :)

Definately get the gym ball for workouts at home! The Curves I go to has one. They come with a poster that shows you some different exercises to do on them, stretches, etc. My favorite (yes, twisted I will admit) is crunches on the ball. The ball supports your pelvis and lower back, feet on the floor with knees & hips at 90 degrees, and crunch away! Something about the more flexible surface makes it easier for me to do them. Cheapest option and the same as some of the pricier ones on the internet is from WalMart. Next best price option is Target. Once upon a time I taught a class on these things, so I am biased, but they seem versatile. And if you get to a point where you aren't using it, it's easy to let the air out and stick it in a closet til the mood strikes again. MUCH easier than trying to stash a treadmill! OH - get a separate pump. Most of them include a woosie little foot pump that will take until next Tuesday to get that ball filled. I spent a whopping $15 to get a pump that looks like it would blow up bike tires only bigger, has a bigger nozzle. Think they called it a bilge pump but you would be hard pressed to use it on a boat.

Yeah, had to wait while the former vessels healed up. And I have the pleasure of wearing those grannie stockings all the time for a few months, especially when exercising. Have you ever seen 'em? Thick compression stockings, very hot in summer! But it was worth it! The Pet Boas are a thing of the past! So are the legs that burn, and weigh 20# extra each at

the end of a shift!:w00t:

I'm off to a good start today - Day one of Phase 1/South Beach, completed without cheating at all! DH has the stomach flu - ugh! Hopefully I can pass on that!

Curves in the a.m.!

I think I will hit WalMart this morning. I'll also take your suggestion about a good air pump--although maybe using the woosie one could count as exercise for the day ;)

I've read where even sitting on the ball while studying (although I'm usually stretched out on the floor) helps strengthen your core.

I've definitely got to look into the varicose thing--I'm tired of wearing long pants in the summer, but I don't like wearing boas on my legs, either--now that I've heard what you call them, I can't think of them as anything else, LOL.

I forgot to say . . . Congratulations on a great first diet day! And I sure hope you don't get the stomach flu. That's never a good thing.
