Healthier Living Support Thread: PART TWO!

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Ok folks, time has come to Start anew.......over 1000 posts means LOTS of bandwidth use here at allnurses.com. So I have been asked to remedy the situation.....

Anyhow, I have enjoyed so much your sharing, help and support here on the Healthier Living Thread....let's keep it up!!!!!:)

QOD: What is your favorite "old" or "new" healthy food/recipe? Care to share?

I have "rediscovered" oatmeal. Yep old fashioned good ole Quaker Oats-----the slow cooked kind.....with raisins, a bit of cinnamon and some Splenda.....YUMMY. Eating this as my dh's cholesterol and lipid counts were very high---trying to clean up my own dietary practices to help him with his....anyhow.....

Anyone else? As you change/grow/develop new tastes, what are your "old" or "new" healthier-choice favorites??? Care to share????

Welcome and good luck Sader and Dutchgirl! You can do this. Stay focused only on today and let us know how you're doing.

Hello all.:) Sorry that I haven't posted in a day or two, I had to work inventory all weekend (all night long sat and most of the night sun) then I had school this morning so I'm pretty much wiped out.

I am glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Welcome to those of you have have just joined this forum. Well, I just wanted to check in. I need to get to sleep, gotta get on that treadmill in the morning!

Welcome Sader and Dutchgirl...

Sorry I have not been around much. Stomach troubles, think I got the bug going around. I am a little better today. Back on the exercise "horse" tomorrow. Stay well, everyone!

Riding bareback is warmer than riding with a saddle. There are some good books out there for fitness and yoga for riders. Some of the exercises can be done on horseback.

LOL - I suppose that's true about bareback being warmer. I will have to quit making excuses and just go do it. Ok - somebody remind me I HAVE to try it this weekend. I didn't know there were fitness/yoga books for riders - that would be awesome! I will have to do some checking into that - that might be great motivation for me - I do love my horsie. :D Do you have any recommendations?

Welcome DutchgirlRN and Sader - happy to see you onboard with us!

My Deb how this thread has grown - what an inspiration!

Cheerful - so good to see you. I haven't heard anything about the rice diet - but having been doing a version of the low-carb thing, that sounds really good to me :chuckle

Jess, Tweety, and everybody else - hope your Tuesday is going well. ;)

I did 40 minutes of aeorbics today at the gym. Weightlifting was yesterday. Tonight it's yoga if I can get some homework done, best get busy with that. :)

Great job Tweety - sounds like you are all over your workout routine. ;) Aaah yes, school - mine starts back the 23rd, so I am frantically reading all the books I want to read "for fun" before then. :D

I'm reading up on the Rice Diet since my youngest dd is all into it right now, and losing weight. Why have I never heard about that diet? It's been around for many moons. Fergus51 said to be careful on the rice diet since she got sick afterwards, and had gallstones from being on the diet. Sure don't want gallstones. :uhoh21:

Deb, I'm glad to see you. Sorry about the stomach troubles.

Renee, any diet that focuses on one food or exludes food groups is usually not one that is going to produce lasting effect and is unhealthy on the body for the long run. Just my two cents. People probably use weight on the Rice Diet because it's low in calories. I grew up hearing about the Rice Diet because it's clinic is nearby home. My understanding is that it is a vegan diet and requires medical supervision.

(((((((DEB))))))) Hope and pray you feel better soon. :kiss :flowersfo

TWEETY....I just finished reading The Rice Diet's official website. The cost of the program in NC is very expensive, but sounds worth it. If I lived closer, and had the money, I'd go.

Fish is on the rice diet as well as other meats, but not during the first week of the diet. Lots of veggies, fruits, grains, and fish mentioned. That sounds healthy to me as those are my favorite foods to eat anyway....just not in such small amounts. But, initially to lose the weight it sounds feasible. :)

Morning everyone

I saw a friend at school yesterday. She had moved to FL 5 months ago and is back..............anyhow, I did not even recognize her at first because she came back 52 lbs lighter. She looks amazing! She says she did the LA weighloss and pilates..............very inspiring.

I am going to be much absent from now on since school is demanding more of me...........lol

Have a wonderful and healthy day everyone.

Hiya everybody. Sheesh. So much for checking in every day. I signed up with WW with a buddy of mine yesterday. I think it will give me the structure and accountability I need.

I'm about to have a very late breakfast, oatmeal with blueberries and milk. I just wasn't hungry earlier.

Did my yoga video this morning. actually I have been almost every morning. I like it. It's short and it's made for beginners. And Rodney Yee is cute.:D
