I wanted to see what you all thought of this. I have had three interviews already for this position. I have two more interviews on Tuesday with another 30 people. Then I have another one with the docs. I think interviewing with almost 50 people by the time I am done is excessive. Has anyone ever seen a person have to jump hoops like that?????

Tooooooooooo many red flags about this position, Renerian.
Would have stoped talking to them weeks ago.
Do you have 24hr accountability or it that the Directrors job. Know of several persons who left this type of postion as were expected to fill in holes on schedule. Sounds like this is what they will do to you after you get there...
Karen I informed them fully that I would not take the position if I had to work the floor all the time. I do not mind helping at all or covering for breaks but in reality I know I cannot work all shifts every day and so on and so on. I did tell them their 6 months of nights was out of the question and not why I was hired and they did agree that would not occur. I was very honest and said if that did happen I would immediatley put in my notice as the position would not be what I was told. They agreed. So I am hoping they stay true to their work. I know it would be hard to help the workers, develop a relationship with the docs if I am on nights.
Thanks for your concern Karen. I always listen to what you have to say and I hope the picture we agreed on is correct.

Renerian,
You sound comfortable in your decision after your re-negotiation. I am pleased that youhave come to an agreement, as I know that you want this job. I will offer no further negative comments, but only support if you need it. It's time to get excited and enthused about your new job so that you can motivate your team. I'm assuming that you convinced upper administration about the problems inherent in placing you in a night staff position by highlighting what good you can do by fulfilling the position as it is intended....a leader, manager, motivator......and possessing the energy to perform this job!
My hat's off to you!

Karen I should have listened to you.......I am to start on the 15th for this role. They keep changing their mind and calling me about holes in the schedule and I need to cover them after I start. Yes I need to then no I do not need to fill them. I am now considering just taking the staff nurse afternoon position they originally offered me as they are driving me nuts. I would make 7,000 more per year plus a sign on bonus which I would not get with the management job. In the staff nurse role I can also get overtime pay rather than being salaried.
They are driving me nuts.

Have these folks never heard of perdeim and float pools and agency?
From the sound of things they have enough staffing needs to justify and support instituting any and all of these alternatives.
Using you should be an ABSOLUTE last resort.
I am just wondering if you are experienceing this much frustration before you start what will it be like after?
There is a reason this position was open. There was a reason they have not kept someone in it. There is a reason no one on the floor wanted it, there is reason it has been open for a year, and there is a reason you heard some bad things about this facility from travelers.
Just wondering out loud. Take it for what it is worth or ignore it if it doesn't seem right to you.
Renerian, every time I read one of your posts on this subject, I see more red flags! I would have told them to go pound sand a long time ago.
You think maybe the excessive # of interviews was in part to weed out the ones who would set limits? Whether it's you or somone else hired as the unit's manager, the higher ups there will never let that person be a "manager".
You haven't even started working there, and they're already making you crazy. What do you think it will be like when they really get their claws into you ( and control your paycheck!)???
