Not feeling the answer to your question.Hung up on my response to the monkey statement. Shoulda . coulda, woulda said.... not my circus, not a monkey. Do it yourself , jerk.
Yep. It's not the doctor's assessment of the patient that leads to his/her dx of pneumonia and thus put on ABT and then recover. It was MINE. Try training a monkey to assess when your pt just isn't seeming right and what data to gather...O2 sats, RR, lung sound auscultation. Yeah, anyone with minimal training can gather some v/s, but I'M the nurse that knows WHAT to assess.
The most insulting thing for me is at my PRN job, the doctor does not trust me to do intradermal allergy testing. I'm like..."I LEARNED HOW TO GIVE INTRADERMAL INJECTIONS 6 YEARS AGO!!!!" I've worked for him for 1.5 years. He ONLY let's me give sub q allergy shots. Ridiculous, infuriating and down right insulting.

We (nurses) tend to think we ARE the best profession.
However, other healthcare professions don't always think like we do.
Once, I had overhead a physician tell another nurse,
"I can train monkey's to do what you do."
Can I say Ouch! Not cool....
Leading to my question: What is the meanest insult you have heard a healthcare professional say to another professional or about another professional?
