Hi Everyone!

I'm not sure if anyone is still active on this post but I am currently a USF student with my AA (78 credits currently). I have completed all of the pre-reqs and have received a 3.4 GPA due to a C+ in Anatomy one and a B in Anatomy two. I was going to apply for the fall semester but I think it is best to re-take A&P 1 and 2 over the summer (brutal I know), and then apply for the spring program with a 4.7! Good luck to everyone. I may still apply for fall even though I will be registering for those summer classes soon. Apparently people with 3.4's have been invited into the nursing program in the Fall...I just think its pretty rare. Anyone know anything about this? Good luck to everyone applying!

@Savannaho Before you take A&P 1 and 2 over again, I would check with an HCC adviser. I remember some of the people in my A & P classes that were on the borderline between a C and D opting for the D so they would have the chance to retake the class. It gave me the impression that that's not an option it you get a C. I also thought I saw something about your pre-req GPA taking a hit if you took classes more than once. It's not like 3.4 GPA is crazy low; it's pretty good IMO. You might get lucky. Good luck!

Hi guys! I'm going to be applying for the Fall of 2018 for a spot at Plant City. I made it to the interviews at USF (Tampa), but got rejected with a 3.9 overall GPA, a 4.0 pre-req GPA, and an 83 on the TEAS test. :( Their loss, I suppose! Hopefully, we all have great chances at making it in to HCC.

I am currently a student at USF and i am wanting to do the concurrent program with USF. I have a 3.3 GPA and i have not taken the TEAS yet. It says the HCC will take college algebra or a higher math. I got a B in college algebra but i got an A in statistics. Im really hoping they chose to take my stats grade instead of college algebra, but i am thinking thats not the way its going to work, unfortunately. Any advice?

I sent my application in for Fall 2018 a few months ago. I got an 84 on the TEAS, my Pre-Req GPA is 3.5. So... hopefully! I'm wanting to do Dale Mabry evenings/weekends. Plant City would have been better, but they are not offering that anymore. Good luck!

I'm not sure what the course number is for statistics, but this is the verbage from the transcript: Complete 3 credits from the following: MAC-1105 or higher level general education mathematics course.

Hello everyone, just an update. I turned in my application for Fall 2018 on February 2nd and just this morning I saw on web adviser in the My Documents section that they have started to process it. The only thing outstanding are my pre-req grades, which is weird because I took them all at HCC and that's where all my transcripts are from. My guess is that it's because the actually application deadline isn't here yet.

I went to a short program giving my the director of the nursing program. She said they can have up to 500 applicants for only 150 seats. She said that they only look to see if you got at least a 60 on the TEAS any higher doesn't factor into whether you get accepted. Acceptance is based on what we all know: pre-req GPA and then overall GPA as a tie-breaker. She confirmed that the evening classes will be only at the Dale Mabry campus. She recommended that we brush up on A&P and critical thinking skills during the summer. "Nursing cannot be memorized." She also kept stressing the importance that we make sure we can make it to clinicals. She laid out the classes for each semester and said to be prepared for at least one test a week.

Good luck to everyone. I'm so anxious.

Thanks for the info. I have not turned in my application as of yet. I have taken the teas and scored a 72. I'm in my last cpl of classes now..I'm super nervous, anxious and excited all at once. I can't believe the time has finally come. And I'm also surprised that there aren't more ppl on this thread as of now

Are they using your statistics grade as a pre req as well or just college algebra?

Agreed about the lack of traffic for our semester. The Fall 2017 thread was super active.

Hi everyone! I'm a USF student with a Pre-req GPA of 3.11 and an overall GPA of 3.67, and a 75 on the TEAS. Ill be submitting my application this week and I'm really nervous!

Ive heard that the TEAS score is irrelevant in ranking applicants - that they only check that you've passes with a 60 or higher, but other than that, it has no influence. Has anyone else heard something similar?

@RHjen47 That's exactly what the director of the program said regarding the TEAS scores. She said they look to see that you got at least 60. Other than that it doesn't matter if you got a 61 or a 99. It's all based on pre-req GPA and overall as a tie-breaker.
