HCC ADN Fall 2008 Applicants

Published

Anyone applying to Houston Community College for the fall? I signed up today for the HESI. I am scheduled to take it on 3/29. If I do well, they will place me into the summer pharmacology course. I am a little nervous. I would love to hear from any students that are in the program. Any tips on the HESI & the Pharm. class would be helpful! The thought of it... ahhh it boggles my mind! LOL

Thanks!

No answer....I left my #, if you want to call me whenever your free

Does anyone have the booklist for the first semester? I would like to start researching something more affordable than the on-campus barnes and noble. I can't really make much sense of the booklist posted on barnes and noble anyway...

I emailed the secretary but was told I would get the list at orientation... by that time it'll be too late to order from Amazon!

that is so stupid to lose a spot in nursing school just b/c you didn't have your Hep B shots, when that's the MAIN thing they are telling you to have!! That's just sad....hope you all have your shots ready-to-go!

Did you miss out because of the hep b??

I was told that you had to have had atleast started the hep B series.....

That reminds to call my doc to get my third shot. You know what...I think I'm addicted to checking this website...LOL.

no, no, I was just commenting on Txgrl's comment from Mrs. Grant about the applicants that AlREADY received an acceptance letter and lost their spot this fall b/c they didn't have their hep b shots! How dumb they feel! LOL!

I guess I was trying to say was, if you know that's a requirement why wait until you have a letter of acceptance and THEN start to get the shots? especially hep B, that you know it takes time to complete?!

I was reading in the discussion board for this summer Pharm class from a student who ask why was everyone talking about shots and CPR classes, and if they had received an acceptance letter already and the student asking the question about where to get shots responded by saying "why would I have to wait until I get the letter to do all these things?"

And it's true! I'm actually starting at Lone Star-North Harris this fall, b/c they called me about 2 weeks ago that a spot opened for me, and the first thing the secretary asked was "how are you with your shots?" and I told her "I'm done!". So I'm guessing that the reason alot of people defaulted there was b/c of not having shots ready!

So make sure you have them ready! b/c if they do call you 2 days before school starts that's one thing you won't have to worry about!

Melissa: You should have all Hep b shots done by the time you go to clinicals which starts about 2-3 weeks after Aug 25th.

Adrian: I know exactly what you mean! I'm also addicted to this forum!! LOL!

We are ALL addicted! :typing
