Having trouble getting pregnant...getting worried....

Here's my story in a nutshell. I have 3 children: 9, 4, 18 months. My husband and I would like a large family, and I didn't have problems getting pregnant with my other children. We have been trying to get pregnant since August, 2003 with no luck. I breastfed my youngest till she weaned herself in August. My periods have been regular since they started back in July after having my daughter in October. I've tried ovulation kits but they don't seem to work for me (they show I'm always at my LH surge). We have sex about every other or every 2 days during my "fertile time". (I'm sorry, I know this is too much info, but I'm trying to give a complete picure :imbar )

Still, nothing happens. As I said, I didn't have a problem with my other children, and I'm getting worried because nothing is going right now. I will be 30 in August, I don't know if that has something to do with it. I plan on going to my doctors soon (making an appt tomorrow.) Just would like some advice, info, or feedback from anyone that may know something about this, and also what the doc would do about it. I don't want to wait a year, I didn't want my kids spread out far apart. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone could give!

Be thankful that you already have 3 healthy children, I will be 34 in July & don't have any! My husband & I have been married for 2 yrs., have been trying to get preg. for a year......it is so frustrating, I have started seeing a fertility specialist, (in fact, I'm having a hystersalpingogram done in 2 days) it's good that you made an appt. with your doc, I am probably not the best one to give advice on this subject because I'm feeling the same way you are right now, but it seems like EVERYONE I talked to said: "Don't focus on it, calm down, it'll happen".

easier said than done.

Best of luck to you, I hope everythhing works out. :)

by the way.... I'm in PA too...what part of PA are you from?

Well obviously you and your husband have no trouble conceiving. And with that in consideration most OB/GYNs won't work you up until you have actively tried for a year.

I would just relax about it and not stress about when you have sex and when you ovulate, ect. It'll happen when it happens.

Good luck!

few suggestions:

1) around your ovulation try to have ultasounds check-ups for follicles size (which these eventually will turn out to be ovum) once they are around 20mm they burst out of the ovary and become an egg. this way you'll find out best if you're ovulation

2) as you're waiting, have your husband check his sperm count, although obviously it was good, it's dynamic and you never know...

3) next you can always tell your doctor that you've been trying for 1 year so the next step is trying fertility drugs starting for light ones to induce ovulation and increase number of follicles and chances

hope this info. was for any help if so i'm glad.

good luck :balloons:

Children are a gift from God. Have you ever considered the fact that He may not be ready for you to conceive another. Make sure you talk with Him. Count the blessings that you DO have. Stress less. Relax. and all things will happen within time.

My father-in-law worked with someone who couldn't get pregnant. She tried for about 10 years. My fil read an article in a magazine about douching with baking soda. It lowered the acidity in some women's uterus's and made them able to get pregnant. Well he told her about and guess what? She tried and it and got pregnant.:rolleyes:

that is a really condescending & insensitive response. You are making a pretty big assumption-how do you even know that the person who is asking is religious? I'm tired of people placing everything in "god's hands" ...if that were true why would there be sick & starving children int his world? Is that part of God's big plan - to torture innocent children? Pleeeeeeeeeeease!

Is douching with baking soda safe??? It sounds to me like it would cause some major irritation down there. Just wondering because I am also trying to get pregnant and nothing is happening (hard to happen when you are VERY irregular).

A good book to read on this subject is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. One of the things in that book that helped me was charting my basal body temp. It is a really accurate way of knowing when is the "right" time. Maybe you already know about this. Just trying to help! :)

I have also heard that "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is a phenomenal book.

I think it's good that you are going to see your doctor. Aside from knowing when you are most fertile have you taken a look at all other areas of your health/life such as emotional and physical stress, diet, etc.? These areas can have a significant impact also.

A friend of mine tried for 2 years straight to get pregnant and she was finally able to when she cut out smoking, copius amounts of caffeine, long stressful hours at the office and started eating a balanced diet.

I wish you the best of luck,

Col
