Hate my boss...what a jerk

hello how are you

In my pre-nursing life, I've had some doozies of terrible bosses.

I've had the "I have a Master's degree in engineering so of course I know how to complete mortgage loans" boss. Who really was a complete idiot. I LOVED the day he got laid off and I moved into his position with a "I should have done this much earlier" from the Head Honcho.

I've had the "Everything has to be teamwork boss, who would go behind each employee's back and talk bad about them" boss. She didn't last long.

I've had the "I'm in here to crack the whip and make sure you get everything done, even if it means you are working 80 hours a week and taking things home with you" boss. Again, she didn't last too long.

I've had some others too but I think I've blocked them out of my memory. I've had some pretty "fascinating" co-workers too. In business, you have to play the politics, it's sad but true.

OP - If you can learn to not take it personally (I know that it's hard) you might actually get a good laugh about it. See these people for people, with all their faults and realize that it's a hard position to be in. Don't spend too much time hating them because you will probably look back and tell yourself that it was a waste of time. If you ever become a boss, learn from your current boss' mistakes and vow never to make them. Above all, this too shall pass. Good luck!

Another example of why education alone doesn't qualify anybody to do anything....experience (and being civilized) are a lot more useful in the big picture, especially (and mostly) when the person can't apply what they're supposed to know. :)

I feel ya lifein08, my last boss was soooo bad I actually quit a good job that I'd had for 10 years and really enjoyed...until she inherited the manager's position when our old boss retired. If I had only held out a few more months I would've been able to witness her crash and burn first hand! Education alone doesn't instill the "people skills" that are required for these positions. Keep your head up and know that if you're a good nurse, give good patient care and keep a positive attitude (as much as possible anyway!) you'll probably outlast this dude and get to see the next jerk of a boss! Good luck!

This is about to happen to me.

Oh No, I'm so sorry!! Which part is about to happen? If it's the quitting a good job b/c of a horrendous manager part, I really wish I had held on a while longer, since the jerk boss wound up leaving shortly after I did, and now things are much better I hear. Hindsight is 20/20 you know! But at the time I thought I would lose it and wind up walking out and making a mess of my license, so I just quit.

On a positive not, I've found the lifestyle of the "unemployed by choice" club to be very nice.... Sleeping late, reading for pleasure, trips to the mall and lots & lots of Judge Judy!! My husband would have an entirely different opinion though. At some point he's going to start sending out resumes FOR me, then I'll know it's time to get serious! :lol2:

I'm sorry DizzyLizzy that you're in a similar spot....it totally blows to walk away from a good job. Those are increasingly hard to find!

She's been the manager for years now and morale is very low, in part to her.:down::down:

I think the manager who did the most dirt to me knows how I must think about him.
