I am thinking about taking A&P 1 and chem together or A&P 1 and microbiology together but my student advisor says it's not a good idea. He says he doesn't want me to put too much on myself, but I am really dedicated to my education and I think I can do it. I've heard of other people doing it and I'm wondering why can't I. I'm smart enough. Has anyone else taken two sciences in one semester? Is it really not a good idea even if I'm willing to work hard? Can someone help me out?
Wow, thanks to everyone for the great advice.I think it is doable. I am 22 years old, no kids, and I chose not to work so I could focus all of my attention on my pre reqs. I know the science classes are no joke, so I have decided to put off work until I acually get accepted into the nursing program. (No I'm not rich and yes it's extremely hard being without a job, but it will be worth it in the end lol.)Thanks to everyone for the advice, I LOVE THIS SITE!!!! I don't start my science coorifices until next semester, but I will be sure to keep you guys posted on my progress.
I am in the second term of my RN program. I am taking Micro and A+P II. While I am not liking taking the two of them together it really does challenge you and keeps your mind sharp in those areas. I am passing both classes with good grades so I cannot complain. So i think you can do it! Good luck!
I took 2 sciences last semester and earned A's in both. I'm doubling scienes again this semester.
It really just depends on you and what you think you are capable of handling. The safe bet would be to just take 1 at a time, but if you think you can handle two at the same time, go for it! Nursing courses won't be easy. You might as well get used to taking heavy loads now before starting nursing. Good luck!
I am taking chemistry, physiology, and microbiology. I take them on different days but they are pretty similar. The classes are demanding but I did not want to take any other classes in my nursing program besides nursing when I start this fall. So far all As. I have a husband and seven kids at home so I am good at organizing my schedule. I am in a study group and a lot of other students are taking two sciences and some are even doing three. Our school is supportive and has tutoring available but usually our professors come in early and stay late. If I run into any problems I am sure I will get the help I need. Good luck with your studies!!!!!!!
I am taking three science/medical courses in the same semester now. I am taking Microbiology, Exam-room procedures, and Medical Terminology II. I have taken AnP I and II and I can safely say that my exam room procedures class is equal in difficulty with both AnP's, but I am still making all A's. The general rule of thumb is that if you have a job/other obligatory duties then you should only take one science class at a time, but if not then taking two at the same time and earning A's or B's is achievable, with hard work... be prepared to cut off any social gathering that you may be participating in.
i took both A&P I and chemII together over the summer and i ended up making B's in both.over the summer it was super stressful i was studying all night and all day and didnt go out not once during the summer. i'm pretty sure taking 2 science classes in one regular semester is stressful to so you have to be really determined if you want to make good grades in both

I am 45 years old, and Nursing is my second career. Being that I had not been a strong math/science student, I was advised NOT to double up on Science classes. So this semester, I only have Chemistry. Next semester will be A&P 1, then A&P 2, and so on. Yes, it will take me longer. But sometimes slow and steady wins the race. I know a few other students in my Chem class who have doubled up with another Science course. They are struggling. BUT, it IS doable!!! I guess it depends on the person.
