Has anyone taken BIO-111 at CCConline? I am wondering how the lab part works. I took it through here because it was full at Front Range and I need it to take 201 and 202. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am starting to worry about it. Thanks!

Is that Patho? How was it? How were the tests? Just curious! Thanks!! :)

Yes, 216 is Patho. I really liked the format. Our instructor really encouraged participation and some of our grade was based on participation in board conversation and critical thinking situations. The tests were held in a proctored testing area and were hard, but doable. I'd suggest it if you can self start... definetly not a class to procrastinate in.

My CCCOnline Patho class was HARD. We didn't have to take tests in proctored locations but they were timed and there was NO WAY you were able to look up all those questions in the time alloted. For a lot of the tests, it was 100 questions in 60 minutes and they were indepth questions. We also had one big research paper due but we got all semester, pretty much. We also had 2 page homework each week with critical thinking questions and discussion boards each week where we had to post an initial response of 100 words and then 2 responses to classmates.

I will say, although it was a tough class, it was very interesting! I agree with hoping 2 B RN that you have to be a self-starter to make it in this class. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Really?! Oh great! lol I want to take it online this spring and I was hoping it would be ok. I did three online classes for fall and did just fine. I don't want my GPA to drop because of this class though lol..any tips for this class? Did you take other classes with this one?

I also took online medterm and online nutrition with this one. This class BY FAR dominated my time.

Good luck!

Oh gosh! Now I am wondering if I should hold off on it! I didn't do as well in Bio....© Thanks for the info! :)

I took BIO from CCConline and I am taking my 2nd one this Spring Semester and I was really happy with it:yeah: I also took Nutrition, Med Term, and English Comp. I got B's in all of them and honestly I could of gotten A's if I would of tired a little bit harder:imbar

It was very manageable and I loved it because you can truely taylor it around your life. You do have to be disciplined and realize just because it is online and you can log in when you want you can't just put it off. I have amazing teachers in all of them.

The only thing I am going to do different this time is print off the e-books so I can hold them in my hands because reading online hurt my eyes a little bit :) Someone asked about lookking up test questions and how it was hard if you have the e-book up during the test and then search on there it is easier BUT I will say I think sometimes people(I am not saying the OP is one of them) think that because it is online they can sort of 'cheat' and not be fully prepared and that is not true....you still have to know the material.

Nursesoon - I did have a full credit hour load this past semester and a 2 year old running around the house so I had a lot on my plate. The biggest tip that I have for that course is to not fall behind! For instance, if a discussion is due on 12/25, I would have your initial post completed 12/19, that way you can answer questions from other students and get full credit. Another thing, always read the instructor's notes for the chapters you are covering and make sure you can answer the follow up questions, if any. If you can do this, you will do really well in the class. Also, I would not suggest taking this class with any other bio classes and I would not take it with a full credit hour load like I did. This is going to be an important class throughout nursing school and I don't feel like I retained enough of the information (which means I'm going in behind). You can do this though! It's not that bad if you're willing to study about 8 - 10 hours/week!

Coloradogrl - You are so right! You have to know the material as there was NO WAY I would've been able to answer the questions by looking all of them up and still got a decent grade. I learned that on my first test when I got a 14 out of 30! Those questions are way too indepth for looking them all up!

Your transcripts clearly show if the class is online, it is coded as OL, as an advisor I had to do all of the transcript evaluations for pre-pharmacy students and I could always tell if it was an online class.

I was concerned so I ordered a new copy of my official transcripts. Nowhere on it does it say 'OL'. Under each semester it shows subj number, name, Guaranteed State Transfer code, credits, grade and quality points.

ie.

Spring 2009

Bio 201 Human Anatomy&Physiology I: SC1 4.0 A 16.00

(SC1 is the GT code for Physical & Life Sciences)

It also shows things like 'President's List" under the respective semester(s) and under 'transcript' totals, it gives total institution, total transfer and overall... each showing earned hrs, gpa hrs, points and gpa - but nowhere does it show traditional/lab/OL/online/hybrid/web...etc.

I don't mean to be rude Nurse2bNichol, but you are making unequivocal statements that are false. Online classes may show up as online in other states or schools, but they do not through the ccconline college network. You need to recheck your facts or at least change the way you are presenting them, continuing to make such statements (such as 'transcripts clearly show if the class is online') will reduce your credibility.
