I take the test next week on June the 3rd and have been looking through the forum. I see that a lot of people utilize review courses but nursing school has left me broke and there's no way I could afford one. I'm not too nervous about the test because my school has a very good passing rate and past students I have talked to said they never took a review course and passed. I was just wondering if any of yall who took the NCLEX and passed the first time without taking a review course could tell any of your study regimens. I have been reading review books but in this last week I was advised to do a bunch of quiestions and review rationales, was this a good suggestion?? Thanks in advance!!!!

Many of us passed NCLEX without using a review course. I used the final time just Saunders and NCSBN 5 week course and just concentrated on questions and reading the rationale (even on those I got right)

There are plenty of free resources like exam master and nclex 4000 that you can find on the posts thru here. I am hoping those work for me because I couldn't afford more and I take my NCLEX June 9th:coollook:

My boyfriend and I both graduated at the same time. He did not do a review course. He did some nclex practice questions for a day and took the NCLEX within 2 months of graduation. Everything was fresh in his head & he passed. Test stopped at 85 Q.
I did not do the review either, but I did do as many practice NCLEX questions I could fit into two weeks and I took the test 3 months after grad and I hope I passed (got the good pop-up)
I hope this helped.
P.s. GOOD LUCK! :)

I was not aware of any review courses back in my day. Like most people, I studied for, and passed, NCLEX on my own.
Thanks for all the replies and advice. I'll look into those websites

I passed the first time without a review course, I had a day and 1/2 to prepare, I did the CD in the kaplan book, the new edition and didn't score well but the rationales and questions refreshed my memory on a lot of things. I did some questions off another website too. I found the first part of the KAPLAN book that breaks down NCLEX questions helpful, I didn't read that until the night before and it would have been nice to review that sooner because it was good information but I went blank on it all anyway. LOL Anyway, it can be done. My school has a really good pass rate too. 100% 2 of the last 3 semesters and 99% the other one. I am the only one that has taken it in my class so so far. (I took it the 16th) the first group from my class is taking it Tuesday and then on June 6th so I don't know how anyone else has done yet.

No review course, and no studying.

Studies actually show that you have better results if you take the test as soon as possible instead of delaying for a test review...study yourself and save the money

In our last semester, we had a panel of 5 students come and talk to us about the NCLEX, job searches, and all that.
None of the five took Kaplan and they all passed the NCLEX. 2 of them with 75 questions and the other three with 100-200 or so.
