I am looking into attending Charles A Jones education college. I found it online and I see that the lvn program is accredited. Has anyone out there attending the school? Any information. It seem a little to good to be true compared to the other LVN programs in Sacramento. I am going to an orientation on Wednesday. Just looking for any information u can get.
Hi I'm looking to attend Charles A Jones or Twin Rivers adult school in 6-12 months. I'll be starting on my pre reqs in a couple weeks but could someone let me know how there program is going? The Twin River looks like the program for me because it will fit in my schedule because I work full time, and have a one year old.
Charles A jones is accredited by Bvnpt but the facilities are pretty ghetto, it's in south sac. Most of your rotations are at snfs and a few clinics, and but for the most part, it had improved. Fyi the prerequisites here are only good for the lvn and not the rn, and so if you decide to go back to school for the RN, count those out. For anyone who is working, i don't recommend this program as it is really intense. I had a classmate though who worked full time during noc shift cna 4 kids and made it, others didn't make it. Let me know if i have anymore questions. Pm me
can anybody give me some info about charles a. jones lvn program? were you ale to work part time while you went there? is it hard to pass, and how hard was it to pass the NCLEX for you after going to this school? how quickly were you able to find an lvn job after graduating and did going to this school affect you getting a job?
I was looking for cheaper LVN schools. CAJ was my first choice. I ended up getting CNA certified through CAJ. One of the teachers for the LVN program was the teacher for the CNA prgram. She didnt teach ****. i dont think i learned anything from her. When she did lectures she was all over the book and we had flip back and forth to find out what she was reading from. She would leave us with videos and sometimes nothing to do for hours while she disappeared to her meetings or whatever else. The cna course is pretty basic so maybe there isnt much to teach, but the lvn students told me that the lvn class was like my cna but worse. the only things you learn are from the book.
The thing discouraged me even more from going there is that CAJ DOES THIER MED/SRUG, MATERNITY, PEDS, UNITS IN NURSING HOMES. how are you going to learn this stuff if the clinical hours arent even in the proper setting?
i know that CAJ has changed a lot since i went (graduated in early "10), with a new director. but all im saying is do your research. everyone who works there is going to promote their school. Talk to the students. They'll give you the best feedback.
In most area LVN schools, you will do clinicals in SNFs. For that reason, I'm glad that my school placed us in SNFs for the most part. As an LVN in Sacramento, it is quite likely you'll work in a SNF or other LTC, or perhaps a medical clinic.
I do think that SNFs are appropriate medical settings to learn in, as long as you take advantage of every learning opportunity.
SNFs do provide "medical" care. The nurses have lots of pts, also, which is good training for actually working in LTC or an SNF.
It's not the same as acute care in an acute hospital though, where the pts are sicker and the ratios are much lower.

Hello Natalie, Yeah, pre reqs take some time. Some vocational schools don't have any pre reqs but it's cheaper to take a&p, lifespan, psyc, nutrition, ect. elsewhere.. what other schools have you looked into?
