Has anyone heard from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for Fall of 2009?

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hi I applied to BHSN for fall of 2009 and I was wondering if anyone has been accepted yet. Good luck everyone!

oh i didnt read the next page that you had a bachelors degree as well, that should def help...did you say u applied or bridgeport.. or are u waiting to apply..

I do not mind. I have a bachelor's in health systems management that I completed last year. I did some pre-requisites when I was completing it, i.e, socio, gen psy, abn psy and Eng. I took Chem last sem. I am still figuring out when to take Micro and a &p 1 and 2.

My teas were not great, I think I had an 85 or something like that. science section floored me. I was getting inpatient so I called them last week and they said they were still reviewing the files and that the first letters would be sent out soon. :yeah:Then I got the letter...hooray....

I hope you get in and find out soon.

I would also like to hear from anyone who is currently attending BHSON. I have a ton of questions.

Congratulations!

I am planning to apply there too, I wanted to try applying to St. Vincents but I'm just so scared. I'm planning to transfer from SCSU because I hate this school . At the moment I'm just taking classes to transfer hopefully I get into a nursing school. I feel like I wasted my first to years here at southern though! School is so stressful . Do you guys thinks it's a dumb move from me? Fall 09 I'm going to Housatonic Community College and finish some of my perequisites there and then apply to BHSN or St. V's

queprec,

I'm sorry to hear your having such a bad experience at southern. If you are def going to transfer from there then I would def continue to take classes that transfer or even count as pre-reqs for either BHSN or St.V's.... I know the pre-reqs for bridgeport are alot less than St.V's.. You will most likely have to end up taking all of the same classes, but u can actually get accepted into the program at bridgeport and complete them while your in the program..They do also have a joint program that if you take a certain amount of credits at housatonic, you could get both your diploma in nursing through bridgeport hospital and a associate degree from housatonic.(the BHSON website has alot of that information in their FAQ section, you might want to check it out). To be honest, I'm not so sure on St.Vincents, I know they have a wonderful program but I did not apply there but I do know that if going to St.Vicents is what you want to do, I would consider taking the science classes(if you havent already taken them) there, at st.vincents college, because if you plan on transferring them from somewhere else, my understanding is they make you take a test in order to transfer those credits which seems to be pretty difficult. Not sure if I was of much help but I tried haha.. Good luck!

Coolbean,

A silly question, was the envelope thin or thick? I don't want to cry when I see a thin envelope! And congrats!

hahaha funny you said that.. cause i would have peed my pants if i saw the THIN envelope I received, had I not read in another forum that the acceptance letters from last year were in a thin envelope.. haha.. so to answer your question it was in a small envelope, with only 3 sheets of paper in it.. haha Good luck!!!

bean: thanks so much it is a lot of help, at the moment im taking a anat and phys but the problem is that here at southern all the science classes are 3 credit classes and I dont think it will transfer to housatonic because over there is a 4 credit class. But actually today I was looking at the classes I took and all would transfer except an english one that I took here at southern. So bassically I would have to just take the science ones in Housatonic and a public speaking class. But you have to tell me how everything goes with you? When do you start going to BHSN?

ok I'm freaking out a little. I haven't gotten a letter yet. I wonder if they send out the acceptance letters first? See what I mean about freaking out? lol. I tanked my teas exam so I am very nervous. Congrats to everyone that got in though.

queprec: thats really weird that its only 3 credits, I wonder if you could do something in order to make it a 4 credit.. maybe they will be able to work with you at bridgeport hospital, cause i would think they would have some sort of affiliation with southern, i mean it is a connecticut state school you know?.. does your 3 credit course have a lab? thats soo strange.. and im not sure of any information yet regarding when i'd start, im still waiting on ncc, but I am def going to send int he deposit to secure my spot at bridgeport.. i will def keep you updated tho, its still new to me since i was just accepted two days ago you know?

msdean: i wouldnt worry to much, I bet they sent them out in a few different mailings.. literally its only been ONE business day since I got mine you know.. I say if you didnt receive something by the end of this week I wouuld call on monday, but i would def wait it out(hard i know) and I tanked my Teas too, if that makes you feel any better!Goood luck!!

bean: oh I'm sorry I thought you been accepted. But yea It's a 3 credit class and it has lab, I would think it would automatically transfer since it's from a 4 year college you know..but I don't know, its weird. I guess I will just have to take a extra bio , I think that is how it works. But where did you take your prereqs.from Housatonic?

Ahhh... I haven't gotten a letter either. Im freakin out too msdeannah!!!
