"Dear Student:
Thank you for applying to the Practical Nursing Program for Fall Quarter, 2011
at North Seattle Community College. Unfortunately, your application was not
selected. Acceptance into the program was based on the cumulative GPA of the
prerequisites (BIOL& 241, BIOL& 242, ENGL& 101, and PSYC& 200 or accepted
substitute courses) and results from the Admissions Assessment Exam (A2).
GPA and A2 score were given equal weight.
There were 190 applicants for fall entrance and 32 students were accepted into
the program. The following are the scores of the successful applicants. The
average A2 test score was 94.111 and the average GPA was 3.937. The highest
A2 test score was 97.57 and the lowest was 90.63. The highest GPA was 4.0
and the lowest was 3.75. The highest total score was 197.46 and the lowest was
189.85.
The next application period will be for Winter Quarter, 2012. Applications will be
accepted August 1st - 31th. All applicants should regularly check the NSCC LPN
website, https://northseattle.edu/programs/nursing , for updates of the program
requirements and changes in application information. All changes will be listed
on the website. Only applications with completed prerequisite classes will be
considered."
Well at least you got on the list! I'm an "alternate" for the alternate list lol. Did they say how many are on the list? Number 4 isn't that bad...you might get lucky...I would not rule it out. As for me I don't think I will be attending this fall. I'm going to start studying for the Hesi againthis weekend. This time I am going to take the reading section first and go super slow!
Congrats to all of you who made it!!
Hey-are you interested in forming a mini study group for those re taking the HESI exam?
Let me know what you think!

WOW....I am sorry for saying you were wrong! you are actually right since this is what you got in the email, but now I am all confused because I don't understand how they could "find" 4 more scores bigger than the lowest score accepted already
mistakes happen , but 4 ???
anyway, I don't think it is fair to accept someone with gpa 3.75 just based on a 4 hour test that weighs 50% off a full year off prereqs, a year of hard work to get the best grades possible....
This is why I think that colleges such as Shoreline CC are better when it comes to considering students for their "real" value into the nursing program; you get points based on the grades you got for the prereqs and experience in healthcare; SCC sounds like a better option and hopefully I can finish all the prereqs I have left for the RN program so I can apply there also
3.85, I repeated the exam and got 95.2 this time. Still not sure it's good enough, the day I took the test edel said that this rounds applicants had really high GPA's. When I log onto evolve it says the class average is 95%. Do you think that's right? Have you checked to see what it says on your evolve account?
You can take the test once per application cycle. They will use whatever score is higher, so in my case, for Fall cycle I got 92.4% but for Winter I got a 95.2%. The 95.2% will be used to calculate my points. However if your HESI score is older than 13 months they will not use it. I hope this helps.
