hey guys, i just recently discovered that i was not admitted for Hamptons BSN nursing program..I had 3.5 gpa my transcript shows good consistent perf. but i got one bad grade (GPA 3.1 now) in one of the chemistry classes( gen chem I)...so retook it got an A...ive always attended fulltime volunteered as a CNA and everything..perfect refer. lettrs etc...the decision lettr said in the light of my best efforts...u cant get a bad grade in any sci. class period regardless of gpa!...and that i cant EVEN REAPPLY!!..wow..i really want to go here so i pushed the envelope:uhoh3:...the director said write a letter of appeal to her directly by late sep ..(she makes the ultimate decision, but also considers recomend. from nurse commitee) the prgrm seats 30..she asked would i be willing to take additional courses..i said yes...she said i can appeal for the spr. 08 semest!!...so what im thinking is taking an extra math course, gen chemII and a humantiy course (the humanity is the last pre-req, they dont req. the chem II and math) this fall..finish them with A's..i have since wrote a bomb appeal letter...I want to show her I can handle thier nurs. prog..she told me that that one grade in gen. chem was y i didnt get in..i felt lik melting when she said that...what would you guys recommend..help please!!!!!!!!!!!!:uhoh21:

i can't believe you were kicked out for a chemsitry grade.. what a load of BS and they don't let you have retakes.. that is crazy.. are you sure you want to go there? they sound petty. is there other programs around you can look into? i hate to see you go through this. please keep us updated. my prayers are with you.

You can not reapply? That sounds a little bit harsh don't you think? I think your GPA is great and will be accepted at other institutions. May be while you wait for the new decision, you can apply to a couple of other places just for back up.
Good luck to you. I am sure you will get into to a good program.
ooh thank you!...i know its very harsh..you guys are so thoughtful..please pray for me..ill keep you guys updated!...nursing school or bust!

Sorry to hear you were not admitted. I would recommend you applying to other nursing schools within your area while you are awaiting the appeal. This will allow you to have a back up plan and maybe get admitted into another program, without delaying another year before starting. Where do you live Hampton, Virgina?
All the best in your endeavors,

Keep doing what you're doing. Write the appeal letter. It seems like you really want to be a nurse. If you live in the area, I would get an advisor. Get advice on the classes that you should take from a Nursing point of view.
I pray that you get accepted.

I presume you're appealing a denied application for admission. I've never done something like that so I have no personal experience to share.
I'm curious, though. Upon what basis do you think you were improperly denied admission?

Wow, I can't believe Hampton U's policy is so harsh. I would definately try applying to ODU's program. I know it's on the other side of the water, but it's still a good school. (I live in Hampton as well.) :)
