I've applied and am curious if anyone else on here is applying for Spring 2011. Good luck!
I just joined allnurses today! I mailed by application materials in on Oct 12. Last week, I got a letter in the mail saying they have received everything and that I should hear an admissions decision by December 31. Still haven't interviewed yet though.
I am taking Micro right now and will be taking Chem2 in the Spring.
Me too - finishing up Micro and Statistics, but have to do Organic Chemistry this spring, and everyone says it's a real bear!
Unless they have changed the requirements, you don't need Organic Chemistry. You need Chem II, which is a continuation of Chem I (inorganic chemistry). I did a year of Orgo after Chem II because I wanted to, but it wasn't a requirement. And yes, Orgo is very challenging.
Thanks, but the sequence they've approved from my college is one semester of general chem and the second semester of organic. But, apart from my moaning and groaning about it, I am thinking about buying my first term FACT texts early to get a leg up when I have time. Do people ever buy their textbooks on-line, cheaper, that you know, or do you have to do it through the Jeff Bookstore for some reason?
You don't have to buy the books from the Jeff bookstore, but most people do, mainly because they keep the book list a secret until the last minute. Some people waited until we knew what books we needed and then bought them used on Amazon. You can't go 100% by what this year's class is using, because they do change texts sometimes (changed Pharm text from last year to this year). I can pretty much guarantee you you'll be using the latest version of Lewis' Med/Surg text, though. I can't see them changing that.
I loved Organic Chemistry, but it *is* a ton of work. If you're up for it, you could most likely get them to approve a different sequence of Chemistry (i.e., Inorganic I and II). But that's up to you. I loved organic so much that my motto became, "Everything is organic chemistry!". You'll see what I mean. Good luck to you.

P.S. by "ton of work" I mean that I spent a minimum of 20 hours a week on Orgo, between classroom time, lab write-up time and homework. And studying for tests of course.
Thanks for the encouragement. Good to hear you loved it and find it useful - I hear the opposite from many, but was thinking it ought to be very useful in understanding medicine. Any suggestions for how to survive it?
Btw, you are such a sweetheart for spending time on this forum helping us newbies! Bless your heart. Are you already employed or still in school?

HI everyone congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!!!... I was just wondering if anyone accepted had to take the MAT and what kind of a score you had. Even though my GPA is well above a 3.2 since I am still an undergrad I was required to take this exam. I am on pins and needles waiting for my score because I know that besides that I am an extremely competitive applicant and JEFF is my absolute first choice!!!
