Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Has anyone taken any classes from , the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

Hi Vetnrse, Yes, 80! My associates degree had my nursing classes, a special nursing practice theory class, A&P 1&2, Microbiology, Speech, composition, 3 psych classes, sociology! Chemistry was a pre req for my nursing school, but was not part of my degree credits. And doesn't accept it (though it should) We just needed to have taken it at some point. I also had another 12 credits from an accredited college which they didn't take.I signed up in May 2016 and was admitted for a June 1st start. If I had stayed in the program, I would have needed 40 credits to graduate. I have the option of being readmitted if I want to. But I decided I am going in another direction. A lot of jobs are really pushing for the BSNs, but the type of work I do has RNs, PAs, foreign medical school grads, so they are not nursing centric... Your vet science degree is very technical and to me, on par with nursing!! I am an animal lover, too!! :)

Oh and they gave me three math credits.... But I would have had to take statistics :(

Ok so you took courses that I didn't, sociology, speech ,psych 3 and that special nursing practice & theory class. I'm still coming up short . Of course I have to take chem and stats even though I took them before. I've had all kinds of bio courses , that maybe I can get them to account for. I just don't want to waste time looking elsewhere, unless someone knows of a better program. I want to get this done by June 2017, before I move. I'm just doing this to make myself more marketable. If I didn't have to worry about $ I would've been working as a vet tech a long time ago. Unfortunately the pay is less than half of RN pay , so I'm stuck with nursing, but at least know how to care for my rescues

I think it is the sociology, speech and psych most likely... Because you really only need three more classes than I did initially... They also have a humanities requirement and a government course (which I would have had to take). I honestly feel with any RN to BSN, you should be able to use any science. Ridiculous that you can't use chem or another biology. And why do we have to take statistics again after five years? The subject matter does not change. My associates degree was heavy on the psychology/sociology... I also have another sociology course from my other school. So for me, a behavioral science degree makes sense. I hope they give you more credits....

I actually thought of becoming a vet tech as well... You are so right about the salary! Which is a shame!

Yes it is. Caring for people is OK, but caring for animals is my passion. Maybe if I win the lottery, I can afford to work with a vet.

Yeah you're probably right, your extra handful of psych/SOC courses made the difference. It would make sense for you to get into behavioral science then.

I took biochem at the U of MN. I took it in person - not online.

Thank you for sharing; since I'm in PA, onsite wouldn't work. I've been trying to work on prerequisites since this summer. Statistics completed (yeah), and this fall working on humanities in addition to the last of my RN classes and clinicals.

When you say clinical are you talking about ? BSNs as I understand don't require clinicals

No clinicals just a some hours (can be done where you live) for community health.

Ok, I already know how I can do that. Thanks
