What is the hardest part about being a nurse and why?

What do you do to help overcome your frustration?

Not having time to provide patient care I feel they deserve because I am too busy documenting what I don't have time to do.

I vent to my coworkers, my boss, my husband, my mother. Anyone that will listen.

dealing with all the different personalities all day long

hearing about every complaint that the families have like nurses control the hospital

running your tail off some days and feeling sorry for the patients

I like to read books, drink wine, take long walks and plan several vacations even if it is only a weekend camping trip.. try not to answer the phone if its work on my day off..

1. Management

2. Other nurses who "eat their young" or play martyr

3. CNAs and other staff who do not respect the nursing occupation

I train horses, take frequent short vacations, and have the odd Bailey's, margarita, or cooler... Life's too short

I am right with the post above, I hate the dirty politics, unsafe working conditions. Keeping a low profile works for me too as I am not a loud person to start with. I have a wonderful spouse and children which helps me a lot because work just can't be my whole life.

The hardest part is finding enough pain meds for the local addicts who wound themselves with their cars or motorcycles.....and their families who think that you can't give them enough and want more.

I live for the beach and started new hobby..photography to help ease the stress.

The hardest part about nursing, for me, is leaving work at the facility when I'm done. It's a weekly battle to keep the "me" that isn't at work intact.

I resent daily moral dilemmas presented by management structures (ultimately shareholders) that require the pretense of patient centered priorities in order to reduce legal liability, but care only about money concerns. They might as well demand that we falsify our documentation.

I love patient care. I would like to actually be able to do it more often instead of service the patient care assembly line.

I try to nurture the spiritual/inner peace chunk of my being, although I'm not very religious. I play with my kids, go shopping with my wife, make art, surf, and grow bamboo.
