Hi All,
I haven't been on here most of the Summer - spending lots of time working on my Nutrition Course, being with the kids, etc. I found out in May that out of over 400 applicants at my school they only had 40 slots for the Fall and I didn't get one of them. I came in as the 9th alternate and was told there was a slim chance that an opening might come up -so I tried to stay positive and hope for the best. But honestly, it was disappointing and I hated telling family and friends that I didn't get one of the slots.
The ADN Program starts mid-August and I heard that last Monday they were having orientation and lunch for the new Nursing Students and I figured that was that - I'd have to reapply, take the entrance exam, etc. all over again next year and the thought of that was pretty depressing (it's a very long, stressful admission process). Unbelievably, Thursday I received my Acceptance Letter in the mail for the Fall 2004 Nursing Program. I can only assume that someone declined at the last moment. I was absolutely thrilled but shocked and stunned and was afraid that they had sent the letter to me by mistake (always the optimist - that's me, ha, ha).. Anways, I got a one- on-one orientation the other day, signed up for classes, ordered my uniforms and luckily still have a few weeks before classes start to get prepared for all of this.
For anyone out there still waiting to hear something from their school - don't give up hope, you just might get some Good News... This has been a dream of mine for 20 years and I can't believe it's finally happening. I'm thrilled to be joining the rest of you this Fall - see you in class.. SusanNC
