Happy Graduation to all of the new Grad Nurses!!

this past tuesday, i played piano for the nurse pinning ceremony at the college where i received my a.s. in nursing 15 years ago. i've been doing this "gig" for many, many years. it's nice to go back to the college and play a part in its nursing pinning ceremony as well as visit my former professors. this particular class of new grads seemed quite excited about entering their new profession. the now-former-student speakers at the pinning ceremony were quite inspiring. all wrote excellent speeches! although the writing styles of the three student speeches were quite different, all were positive, hopeful, grateful and clever. all demonstrated a determination to enter the nursing profession with the intent of providing the best nursing care possible. it was an honor to play music as each new nursing graduate received his or her nursing pin. all smiled; all seemed grateful to be at this "end" of this part of their education; all seemed quite proud to be where they were that day. the pinning ceremony was an afternoon of celebration, of sharing gratitude and of hope and anticipation for their new career. it was, indeed, a special afternoon.

so. . . i guess there are a lot more colleges with nursing programs having similar ceremonies!! lots of new grads! lots of new nurses! lots of "not-so-new" nurses receiving their advanced degrees! :)

so, in the spirit of hopeful celebration i share to all of the new grads:

congratulations!!

:balloons: :balloons:

congratulations on a job well done! :)

with much admiration. . . .

(gosh! i hope i spelled the word "congratulations" correctly!! or is it "congradulations"????)

Thank you! I graduated from an ADN program May 12, 2007. At my school we didn't have a pinning ceremony, we went through graduation with the rest of the college. As a matter of fact, we were given the option to buy our pins. I didn't buy one my LPN year but I did this year.

It's nice to read the stories of the people who recently graduated.

Please continue to share graduation stories. What was the ceremony like? Are you doing anything special for yourself post-graduation?? :)
