I studied day and night, did kaplan and failed NCLEX 1st time. This time I took hurst review, have grown smarter in picking answers based on patho but when I am infront of computer, I hyperventilate, my lips go dry, I want to use toilet and keep on reading one ques again and again. What do you all do when you feel anxious in front of computer

When I sat down in front of the computer to take my test, I took deep breathes. I closed my eyes when I took the deep breathes. I thought about being in a nice pieceful place, calm and relaxed. I opened my eyes and said, lets do this:). Jollygirl098 you are going to have to calm down, that hyperventilating is messing you up. I bet if you lost that test anxiety and just relax, calm down, and breathe, you will pass that test. Jollygirl08 I had so much test anxiety with the NCLEX test, I was totally sick the whole day after I took the test. An RN told me that I need to breathe and think of a nice calm, relaxed place of being. After a few more failed test, I finally took her advice and I passed my test by following what she had told me. Every question I took, I took a deep breathe and just took my time answering the question. It sounds like you have all the information in your head to pass the test it's just that test anxiety messing you up (you got to loose that, try hard). Good luck with your future test:up:

This is not like a test in a nursing class in which you should know all the information. It is important to remember that you are not expected to know all the answers. If you answer right, you will get a harder question. They will keep getting harder until you miss one - then you will get an easier one. They are looking for competence - not perfection. I kept telling myself, "I don't have to know them all." Take time to think, use the things you have learned in your prep classes but if you truly don't have a clue, just pick an answer and move on. Don't torture yourself over every question! With the experience of having taken it once before and the things you have done since then, you are much better prepared this time. You can do it!
thanks for encouraging words! this forum rocks :)
When you know that you are doing good on the test is when every question you answer is like a piece of cake almost, no brainer questions. Although you have the different levels you have to pass what it seems like, if you have studied all your content, labs, and so on the questions are not as bad as they were if you took your 1st test and failed. If you continously keep getting answers right and they are harder questions, you are in the ball field to passing. Remember to pray and that GOD is Good!! :)

Okay, so I was pretty nervous while driving to the test center the day of my exam. I turned up the music to some encouraging music, whichever music you find encouraging. Then when I arrived at the test area logged in, did all the security stuffs, then went to the bathroom. Came back then I was all set. After the proctor assisted me to my chair, I started to pray, hoping that the Lord will guide me throughout my test, anxiety was also setting in but deep breathing really helps you ease the tension, try to not look at the time and how many questions you have answered so far, read the questions carefully and slowly, repeat it as many times then choose the best choice for the question, eliminate and eliminate until it leads you to the best answer. If you really don't know the answer, make a very educated guess. Regarding SATA's, it's usually what you know about the choices, eliminate again and associate the choices with what the question wants. Good luck!! :)

Deep breathing and other relaxation exercises. A prayer might not be a bad idea.
