Gwinnett Technical College...Applying for the Nursing Program Jan 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey all!

Just wanted to see if any students on here is attending Gwinnett Tech and taking the pre-req for Nursing who will be applying January 2016 for the Fall 2016 program. I am signed up the take Micro this fall and will be applying in January. I'm not confident that I will be admitted into the program next Fall because of my GPA(2.9). I think I will have to retake A&P2 since I didn't do so well in that class. Hoping that I will score high on the Kaplan to see if that would help. I am planing on taking the Kaplan in October so if I need to retake, I can do so in late November or early December.

Good luck to you, I am plannig on applying to the summer 2017 bridge. I still have to take A&P 2 and Micro. I wish I could apply for 2016 but the bridge app deadline is the same as the regular admission deadline so considering the fact that I am taking this semester off (Fall 2015) I wont meet that deadline.

Let me know if you guys have questions. I'm in the program now and don't mind giving any input you need :)

You need the GPA to be around a 3.4. The average student who gets accepted has around that or above. A friend of mine tried twice with a 3.2 and didn't get in even though his Kaplan score was good. If you can retake course that is a good idea. Let me know if you have any questions.

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools and Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Thanks so much for the info. I was really concerned about the G.P.A. because I got a C in A&P1. So my GPA will prob be around 3.5-6 when all is said and done. I was hoping to have a 3.7 or above when I applied but unless I retake A&P1 thats not going to happen! And I really dont want to do that unless its absolutely necessary because I have to work as well. So Im just going to have to bust my but on the Kaplan to up my chances.

When I started going to GTC they told us that despite the minimum gpa needed for application being 3.0, that you needed to make a 3.7 or above, so seeing that people have gotten in with 3.4's makes me feel a lot better about my chances.

Np problem at all. You can pm me if you would like my email. I check it several times a day and I can give you study tips for the kaplan. Just give yourself at least 2 months prior to deadline of the application to let me tell you what study materials will help you. So that means 2onths before January 15th for next year's fall entrance cohort. Wish you the best. Don't worry if your GPA is around 3.4 and up all you need it a decent kaplan score and you are in.

Hey! What would be considered a decent Kaplan score with a 3.8 gpa?

What is the Kaplan passing score?

Hello @NeoNatMom

Congrats on being accepted into the program. I recently turned in my nursing app and now waiting to receive my acceptance letter. *Fingers Crossed* My GPA ,according to the nursing program, is a 3.81 and I scored an 80 on the Kaplan

From what the advisors state, I have a good chance based off last years Kaplan scores. I'm extremely nervous and hope they make decisions sooner than later because waiting is literally killing me lol. Do you have any input on the average GPA and Kaplan scores of the other students that are currently enrolled in the program? Thanks again

Passing kaplan is a 75. Pretty sure youll get in as long as you pass. Gpa is a huge weight. Most can get in with a high gpa and low kaplan score, but not the other way around.
