Gwinnett Technical College...Applying for the Nursing Program Jan 2016

Hey all!

Just wanted to see if any students on here is attending Gwinnett Tech and taking the pre-req for Nursing who will be applying January 2016 for the Fall 2016 program. I am signed up the take Micro this fall and will be applying in January. I'm not confident that I will be admitted into the program next Fall because of my GPA(2.9). I think I will have to retake A&P2 since I didn't do so well in that class. Hoping that I will score high on the Kaplan to see if that would help. I am planing on taking the Kaplan in October so if I need to retake, I can do so in late November or early December.

Hi, I am applying for the 2017 program as well. Have you taken the Kaplan yet? I plan on taking mines in a few weeks. I am nervous as all get out!!

Hello everyone. I'm so excited I came across this forum. I'm applying to the 2017 program at gwinnett tech. Can someone please give me some insight on the Kaplan exam ( what its like, what study tools did you use)? I'm a horrible test taker. I would love to hear from some of you.

Hi, i am plan on applying for the 2017 program. Have you taken the Kaplan yet? I am extremely nerovus.

Kaplan is based on four topics: Reading, Writing, Math, and Science.

Reading is self explanatory. May need to brush up on being able to identify the main idea of a passage and know how to eliminate a sentence that doesn't belong.

Writing you need to be able to have a good understanding of subject-verb agreement. Utilize the Internet for practice on this.

Math just know the basics and also converting percents to decimals and vice versa, know how to solve word problems and proportions.

Science you need to know the different systems (Urinary, Cardiovascular, etc). Pretty much info from A&P I and II will be VERY helpful.

Its always recommended to take Kaplan more than once. The higher the better. It only requires a 70 I believe but the year before last the lowest they accepted was a 79. Good thing is is that the questions don't change so if you have good memory, you can write the questions you feel you missed and research the answers before taking it a 2nd time. Hope this helps. Hey everyone!! I am applying for Fall 2017!! Only issue is I have not found much info on the website about the program! WHERE DO I START?!? Hello, everyone! I'll be applying to the program this year. I took my Kaplan for the first time and got a 78. I'm not a very good at standardized tests but hope to do better in January when I take it again. How is it going for everyone else? For those already in the program, how are you guys liking it so far?

Hey! I'm not too sure when this thread was started, but I found it out of desperation searching for average GTC Kaplan scores. I recently took the Kaplan and scored a 78. I was initially worried because that sounds like a bad score to me, but I've had a few people telling me that's actually pretty good. My GPA, I believe, is around 3.41. Do you think it is necessary to retake my Kaplan? What are the odds of actually being accepted into the program with my current academic credentials? Thank you in advance.
