For those of you who wear your wedding band, do you wear it to work? I don't want to have to be constantly taking it off to clean it.

I'm thinking I will probably just wear it outside of work. What do you do?

Meh i rarely wear mine anywhere. I know I'm married and I just hate wearing jewelry.

I'm guessing your wife won't appreciate it if you take it off given the ratio of female to male nurses likely in your work environment. Just wear it and clean it ; it's not that hard.

I am getting married October this year and intend to wear my wedding band on my hand. Compared to some of the rings my female colleagues wear which have diamonds sticking out etc *against dress code but its not often enforced* I think a simple wedding band is something I can wear and hopefully may deter some of the comments or slander put around about guys.

DH (who works on corporate America - no infection control, or danger issues) has stopped wearing his ring for several years. I'm not excited about it, but have dealt with it. He, however, claims he was hit on much more when he wore it. :icon_roll (Travels a lot for job.)

That's actually the truth at least in my case. I used work in the IT world fixing/replacing servers. It was like a chick magnet or atleast offers of dinner and whatever else came up.

That was tough turning down dinner. That red sauce looked goood.

I'm not a nurse (yet) and I'm not married (yet, but let's face it the odds are in my favor lol)..

But I always wondered, why not wear it on a string? it'd make kind of a cool necklace.

Unless you're working psych, that's a good way to get strangled.

I just bought a pretty hefty, though cheap gold necklace for this reason...well, and because I play the djembe and cannot wear a ring while playing that, hence the chain idea. BUT 4 days into it the piece of junk breaks in the shower...wth? Guess I'll have to go with a leather strap or something...

I lost my wedding band on our honeymoon cruise...No, my wife wasn't pleased.

I wear a simple gold band. Never take it off.

I wear mine. If I'm doing something that's gonna get it dirty I'm wearing gloves anyway. If something should happen to get on it (I stuck a bare hand into poo on accident one night) I just wash it and wipe it with alcohol wipes.

same thing can apply to women, i dont want to wear my nice ring and then clean c-dif, i would rather keep a fake in my locker and switch it out :)

I wore mine for a couple of years after marriage mostly to make the wife happy. I am not a ring guy. Eventually I got tired of all the gunk that gets under a band so I just quit wearing it. My wife was upset at first but we both work at the same hospital so no chance of me being mistaken for single. I will wear the ring on occasion if going out to dinner or to a club.

Yup- I wear it proudly. I am a man, a husband, and then a nurse. My family and my wife are important to me- they supported me through school and through all this crazy work stuff- it only seems right for me to leave it on.

I wear gloves when I need to- wash my hands often (and move the ring to get under it too), use hand sanitizer, and if its really goopy- wipe it with disinfectant wipes. It goes where my hands go.

I wore mine all the time and only took it off when cooking something i had to use my hands for, such as making rolls, bread or meatloaf, I wash my hands and use the foam between pts, i wear 2 pairs of gloves when doing a procedure. Most male wedding bands are just that just a band around your finger. So not likely it will tear the gloves anyway. If it does i have the second pair for back up.
