Heard a hospital banned gum... didn't say why. I think I'd have to quit a job that banned gum.
Well? Can you chew gum? Why not? Do you do it anyways? Does anyone care?

Not allowed, per OSHA, in patient treatment areas.
I love how rules don't apply to certain people!!
Besides good breath, gum helps me suppress my hunger and increases my concentration lolI'm actually chewing gum as of now!(I work in as a server and I am not allowed to chew gum but I have never gotten caught)Edit: I didn't see the post was old. Sorry guys!

I stumbled across this thread, and couldn't IMAGINE what anyone could possibly say about GUM for 160+ posts!! So I skipped to the last few pages, chuckled....and can now move on :)
I guess if anyone REALLY cares about what I think regarding gum chewing in the workplace, I'd have to say it's an activity that annoys people more often than not....and looks ridiculously unprofessional. I don't care if it's loud smacking or gentle cud-worship, no one should be chewing in front of patients or colleagues --unless they are sharing lunchbreak with those colleagues!
