Is anyone applying for the Fall 2015 GTCC nursing program? The deadline for applications is February 10, 2015...only 14 days away!

I will ask Tiffany about the clinical when I to GTCC tomorrow.Have you done all your medical check up yet? I will start my medical check up next week, I am so busy with work.

Hi, everyone. I talked to Tiffany this morning, she said we definitely have the clinical starting on first week of school. We will only know the clinical site on orientation day.

Oh, exciting...good to know, thank you for letting us know! Must be just CNA stuff at first? I apparently have no idea what to expect.

I know in Forsyth Tech they have CNA test skills test in first few weeks of the semester. I don't about GTCC, maybe the same thing. It's good to revise some of CNA skills before the school start in fall.

Hey everybody. I was accepted to GTCC but have decided to accept a seat at another program. I will be sending my notice in this upcoming week. Good luck everyone!

I am not sure about where the clinicals will be. I did talked to Lori about wethernor not to get the flu shot and she told me to wait till the orientation day. I asked about the clinicals and she said we will have and that the assignment will be given at that day. I am turnig in my cpr and medical record this week.

Hi everyone, upperclassman here! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am not going to lie, I was chuckling at your posts because it really took me back...I have totally been there!! Let me know if you have any questions that I might be able to answer! :)

Hello all, I applied to GTCC's nursing program since the admissions office extended the deadline. I'm really excited and hope I am accepted or at least be selected as an alternate. I had 40 points at my MAR review last Thursday. I still haven't completed either Anatomy course and hope to complete 1 in the summer and the 2nd part in the fall.

Hi, pippa1. I am interested to know what is your first semester like in term of classes, lab and mostly the clinical. Where is your clinical in first semester ? Do you work while you are in nursing program? I would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Hi, Danni2389. When you will know you will get accepted to the program?

Hey farizah, I would definitely not recommend working unless you are in a PRN position, but even then, be very careful about the work/school balance, because you will honestly be so busy and will really need a lot of time to study.

The weekly schedule when I was in 111 was: one day of lecture class, one day of skills lab, one day of pharmacology, and one day of clinic (and yes, they can give you clinic on the weekend so be prepared).

You will also have a couple of days of simulation clinic at school...and unless they changed it, we didn't have actual clinic until we were about a month into the program. In later semesters, you will start clinic the first week of class, but you probably won't start clinic for at least a couple of weeks. I was at High Point Regional the first semester, but they had people at Cone and Wesley Long as well so you won't know until they give you the schedule on the first day.

Just a few random tips: check your email every day-first thing in the morning and right before you go to bed (they are constantly changing things, it will drive you nuts), try to get super organized as early as you can-use binders, folders, tabs, whatever works for you, don't put off on learning the meds they give you, and start working through some dosage cal...the "Henke" med math book will be your best friend!! Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm excited for you all!

Hey farizah, the lady in the admissions department said we should know at the latest 2 weeks after the new deadline which is tomorrow. So hopefully in mid April I'll know! :)
