  1. Hello all. I applied for the PMHNP concentration and was waitlisted so fingers crossed a spot becomes available.
  2. Hello all. I'm considering making the move to a Hospice Home Care position. I still consider myself a new graduate nurse I just graduated last December. I was working in the ICU but after 9 months I decided it wasn't for me. I've alwaud had an interest in Hospice so I'm very excited about the position. My question is has anyone gone on to pursue their MSN after working primarily in Hospice home care? Do MSN programs prefer applicants with more hospital experience? I definitely want to earn a graduate degree one day, but I'm not sure what direction I want to go in. I don't want to hurt myself by taking a home care position early in my careeer. Any advice would be great thank you!
  3. Ok great thank you I sent you a PM!
  4. Thank you! Did you personally take it online there? I am trying to get feedback so I'll know where to take it at.
  5. I am looking to take a Microbiology class online through an NC community college as prerequisite for an RN to BSN program. Anyone have an success with any college in particular? I am looking to do it through an NC college so I can get the NC tuition. Any help would be great! Thank you!
  6. For any students who took Bio-166 Anatomy and Physiology 2 at GTCC, does anyone remember what systems were covered or the chapters in the book that they were? I was trying to do some reading over the holidays and hoping to get a head start on it.
  7. Just to let the other alternates out there know.... There is hope!!! I am #4 and I received my email today offering me a seat in the program! I'm so excited and can't believe it's happened already!
  8. Yes we are supposed to be there if we still want to be considered for a seat and I'm alternate #4
  9. I'm an alternate and are u referring to the email about the background check? I know we're supposed to attend orientation, but the email I received was saying we don't have to pay for the background check yet. But the admitted students do at orientation.
  10. I'm alternate #4 and so far no I haven't heard anything. I wondered if we wouldn't receive phone calls or anything until after the health forms were due. I know my friend was an alternate a few years ago and she didn't receive her phone call until sometime in November.
  11. I received my letter today. I am alternate #4 on the list which I'm pretty happy about since I haven't finished bio165 yet. If I do get a seat in the program I'll have to take bio 166 along with nursing 111. I am optimistic though and hope I'll get a seat. And I applied with 37 points. For my 1st mar back in the spring I had like 44 but with certain classes no longer counting and Tiffany at first saying my bachelors degree awarded me points, this time they said no I ended up with only 37.
  12. Congrats to everyone who got in! I know yall are excited! Hopefully the rest of us will get our letters today or tomorrow!
  13. I didn't study much for the teas and rushed to take it and passed it. For me it was just a long test. I feel like it just dragged on and on. I scored highest on the math surprisingly because I'm not a math person. But for that section it was really just about remembering how to do math I haven't done in awhile without a calculator like the rules of fractions for instance. The science I wish I would've studied for more and the grammar I feel like I rushed through because it was last and I was ready to be done with it. But in my opinion the science section was the hardest.
  14. From both friends I currently know in the program, they both said the program is very tough. One friend is down to working only one day a week. She said it is very time consuming between classes, clinicals, and studying. As far as the decline interest in the program. I've been told that people are going to other programs such as Forsyth because of the nursing programs minimum score for passing tests within the program is higher than at Forsyth Tech. I dk how true that is but that's what I've been told. Also I know from personal experience that a lot of people don't make it through Bio-165 and Bio-166 at GTCC because it's so tough here. This is my second time repeating Bio-165 because I got a high D the first time I took it and only 4 people in my class passed it and we started with at least 50.
  15. Yea I'm hoping just to have worry about Bio-166 in the Spring with nursing classes and then that's it. Friends in the program have told me it's doable the first semester but after that it's not a good idea. And yea normally the gtcc threads have a lot of responses. We're less than a month a way so I thought more people would be posting. I know for the fall semester application this past February they had to extend the deadline because they had the fewest # of applicants they've ever had so I wonder if that will be the case again this time around.
